Activision has released a couple of new videos touting a couple of their prized rock star participants in Guitar Hero: World Tour. The clip above shows Zakk Wylde, Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist and the frontman for his Black Label Society, donning a motion capture suit and jumping about like a lunatic.

The second video, which you can find after the jump, features Hayley Williams of Paramore doing much the same, although I won't deny that she's more appealing than Wylde. I must live under a rock or something, because I have absolutely no idea who Paramore are but I hear that they're popular.

Does having rock stars involved in the game have any effect on your interest in purchasing it? Do you think it lends some sort of legitimacy to the game? I can't say that I particularly care one way the other, since it's the track list and gameplay that appeal to me for the plastic instrument genre of games, but I'm sure that there are those out there for whom this could sway a purchase.

Tracks > animated rock stars.

And I too am under that same rock. When I saw Paramore in Rock Band 2, I thought it was another Harmonix or local-to-their-offices band.

Fact checking aisle 5.

Zakk Wylde has never been a member of Black Sabbath. he's a guitarrist for Ozzy Osbourne's solo band and Guitarrist/Vocalist for Black Label Society but not Black Sabbath.

Anyway I like having animated rockstars it makes for a more interesting experience thinking about sharing the virtual stage with a virtual rendition of your idols

@Xhumation: Gah! I knew that too and I can't believe I screwed that up.

I mean... I don't make mistakes and I certainly didn't make that one.

I understand that they are going for the Rock Band rip off, but if they desire to keep the Guitar Hero name, they should mocap guitar heros. You know, someone with talent instead of some flavor of the month girl, who ah, doesn't play guitar and will never qualify as a hero.

Fantastic news. I've been a big fan of Zakk Wylde for many years.

Haley Williams was on my flight back from PAX. She kept bumping me with her luggage.

Tracks are much more important

I'm going to go with no mo-cap because if they don't do that, the likelihood of lame "boss battles" goes down.

hayley williams more appealing than zakk wylde? wtf!? he is a rock legend, and she is just a manufactured pop star for emo girls. he has more talent in his right pinky than she will ever have in her whole life. sorry just had to get that off my chest.

Awww I love Haley Williams and Paramore. I saw them live. They're so fun.

@superflossy: I thought it was pretty apparent that my complete ignorance of who she is meant that any appeal she had for me was superficial, shallow, and based solely on her appearance.

I actively dislike 'real' rockstars (and manufactured pop commodities for that matter) being put in the game. To me it adds nothing and takes away from the atmosphere.

I fail to see the appeal. To say nothing of 'boss battles'.

LOL, she doesn't even play guitar? So what, its just "hai, we got a chick some of you know in our game" then?

While I actually do like a lot of Paramore's tunes, Hayley Williams is by no means a guitar hero.

Apparently Haley Williams and Paramore were from down the road from my house in Nashville.... never fucking heard of this band, and I was one of the biggest frequenters of Nashville music venues. Not that I'm disappointed or anything, but this band really came out of nowhere.

I don't care about either person. Seriously. Go away, Guitar Hero.

Don't forget that the game has vocals now. It's not just about guitar anymore. Maybe you'll have to out sing her in a battle. Maybe they will add super lame power ups to it too. >_>

Boourns. Paramore has no right being in Guitar Hero, and Hayley Williams has even less right being featured in it. Although, if Interpol and the Beastie Boys, two groups that actually suck a ton of ass, are included, then it's only fair to let Paramore in. Unfortunately.

Why care about which artists "have a right" or not being in a game choc-full with irrelevant product placement.

yeah she's a great singer so she's probably in it for the vocals part
