Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, DJ Hero 2 get price drops photo

Good things to come to those who wait, and by "good things" I mean saving a few bucks on Activision's Hero titles. Only a few months after their launch, both Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock and DJ Hero 2 are getting price drops.

You can now buy both standalone games for $49.99 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii. A Warriors of Rock guitar bundle will run you $79.99; the band bundle (one guitar, a microphone, and a drumset) will cost you $159.99. The DJ Hero 2 one-turntable bundle is now $59.99; only $10 for the peripheral is not a bad deal.

I reviewed both titles, so maybe take the time to read my thoughts on Warriors of Rock and DJ Hero 2 before you make a purchase decision. Spoiler: DJ Hero 2 is excellent, Warriors of Rock is… silly, but serviceable.

I might look into DJ Hero. I used to think it would all be crappy chav music but some of those remixes are actually quite good.

I hate Rap/Techno music, would I still enjoy Dj Hero 2?

Hasn't the Wii version of WoR always been $50? Or is this the first time that the game is being sold as a standalone disc?

Both Warriors of Rock and Rock Band 3 haven't sold well - the band genre is starting to decline.

Either way, I'm glad I'm in the Rock Band camp, as Harmonix will always be able to funnel money from Dance Central into supporting one of their only other IPs, and keep supporting the franchise through DLC, which will always work in any main series Rock Band game. I have my doubts about the continuity of the Guitar Hero series - I think they'll keep shilling it into "Artist" games like Van Halen.

Cool beans. What little I've played of DJ Hero 2 was really good, so if you're not saving up for a 3DS (like me), that one would definitely be worth picking up.

If you're being serious then the answer is definitely no. That said, DJ Hero is known for having the weird effect of turning people who hate electronic, dance, and hip-hop and making them enjoy it. But I wouldn't say it's worth a gamble.

As long as they keep putting out fucking awesome DJ Hero games they can do what they want with Guitar Hero. GH has always been a take it or leave it franchise for me since RB hit the scene. I thought NSoft had finally hit their stride and would keep my heart when they put out the fantastic and grossly underrated GH5 but then they turned around and did Warriors of Rock which was awfully mediocre. To say the least.

Anyway, I love hearing DJ Hero price drop news because more people really need to get into it. It's really creative and just damn fun. I got a second turntable from the shop I work at and if you can pick up a second turntable on the cheap the multiplayer is actually really well done. A lot more involvement than I originally thought it'd be. Definitely met Rock Band levels of multiplayer fun in my opinion.

I got my two turn tables and a microphoooooone - and DJ Hero 1 and 2. It's a great series for sure, I just think it's going to get shilled out eventually.

At first glance I thought the thing in the header image was Alf. Needless to say, I'm sorely disappointed that it isn't.

Very possible but it's one of those things I'd probably hack to see to believe. It's just...weird sounding. Then again Guitar Hero: Aerosmith sounded weird too.

Era stuff would be cool. Or genre stuff. Like 70s/80s mixes or hip-hop or something. Specific artist could definitely suck but then again all those Daft Punk remixes worked. Huh. Maybe you're right.

Now give me a game that mixes videogame tunes with non-videogame tunes and that'd be ace. Maybe a few Jet Set Radio mixes. It would never happen but I can dream.

Well, that's good. I had t o get rid of my copy of WoR because of that problematic "disc unreadable" issue. I'll probably get another copy some time down the road.

I'm gonna wait on GH. I only pay $20 for those now. There's too many out there already, so why bother paying anywhere near full price for the newest one when there's four others I haven't bought that are cheaper?

I'm all over DJ Hero, though.

I prefer when gh games are shilled out every year.
the prices always drops within months.
whereas in rb, dlc never goes on sale.

In the UK it's common for games to drastically drop in price a few months after launch.
