Guitar Hero U2 Edition in the works? photo

At this point, I think it's obvious that Activision has no real intentions of supporting Guitar Hero III with significant downloadable content. The next obvious step is Guitar Hero IV, which according to rumor (and a drunk, naked Captain Obvious), is already in the works.

While we've heard rumors of an Aerosmith-flavored Guitar Hero, check out this new bit of rumor, snagged from this "Quartermann" section of this month's Electronic Gaming Monthly:

We already know GH 4 is on its way (as well as a game based on the band Aerosmith), but I'm hearing two more Guitar Hero titles are also in the works, bringing GH3's sequel count to four. And one may star a group that rocks in mysterious ways.

This seems to be an obvious reference to Irish mega-group U2, who have sold a few albums since the early-80s. With Slash appearing in Guitar Hero III and most of its marketing, one could guess (and hope, actually) that this fourth sequel to a sequel will be Guns N' Roses-related. Or Slash's Snakepit. Or Earth, Wind, & Fire.

U2 is one of the best bands in musical history. And good modern day artist will even admit it and quite a few have.
That's why a lot of artist do cover songs of u2 on tour.

Also, Bono has seen quite a bit suffering in his life time. He's trying to make the world a better place. Unlike most of you cheese balls who actually blow your money, oh wait excuse me, you PARENTS money on video games that won't matter in 2 years.

And by the way, BONO DOES NOT MAKE UP U2!!! Read up on it, and you'll figure out! So just remember, U2 does not equal Bono.

Anyways, I think a Guitar Hero: U2 would be more of a dishonor to U2 since it's just not all guitar. It definitely would make a better Rockband game as there is a lot of awesome drum, and bass in they're songs.

Initially, I was completely boggled whey they wouldn't let me buy a master-game (GHWT, for example) and download mini-DLC packs for just the songs I want.

After thinking about it, though, I'm not that upset. I'll just look for each of these titles used - hopefully around $10 each, which is a steal compared to the prices I'd have to pay if this were released as DLC.
