A Brooklyn fund raiser (called the Fünde Razor, get it?) is giving a little love to The Children's Hospital in the Bronx today with a little gamer rock n' roll. Two modders from the Make community have offered up two gutted custom made wireless Guitar Hero controllers, which makes me salivate just thinking about them. I love my little plastic $60 pecker and beat at it constantly when nobody's home, but would love for something way bigger and ... ok, the whole penis analogy was going too far. But anyway, 100% of the proceeds are going to the charity, which rocks mad cocks. Jmillerid writes - "I got in touch with Joel as a result of the Makezine blog entry about the Funde Razor event tomorrow in Brooklyn, and created two Guitar Hero controllers for the event... I just wanted to share with you the results which I also added to the Make Flickr pool." - Link. Chuck writes - "I just posted an exhausting how-to on building a custom wireless GH2 controller - the one we built for the Funde Razor event tomorrow night. There's over 110 pix and lots of description. This should be the Bible (at least the Old Testament) for anyone wanting to try this at home. - Link.
Check out the painstaking process they went through in this photoset on Flickr. If Hendrix was alive today, he'd probably say those guys are experienced. [ Via YouNewb ]

Won't you need sasquatch hands in order to play the chords in Guitar Hero?
Are you doubting my manhood? I've got tarantula fingers
Damn - if I was him I would just... give them real guitars
This is awesome. You shouldn't have any trouble playing the chords on this. I mean, these are built from real guitars which are built for that kind of thing, right?
BTW, proceeds from this event go towards Penny-Arcade's Child's Play charity.
WANT.
That is probably the most awesome thing I've seen in a while.

I guess thats cool, but honestly using real guitars kinda defeats the purpose of playing a video game. Why not just play real music at that point? (Im a musician so I guess Im bias)
Bleep i totally agree with you. That looks like a waste of 2 decent guitars to me.
I tried learning guitar. Put simply, it's infriginpossible.
It's not impossible if you aren't lazy. :-p
Seriously, learning the basic chord progressions is easy as hell.
It's just... afterwards that's difficult.
