Guitar Hero III world champion has broken over 80 guitars photo

And we're not talking about the bashing over the head to show off kind of guitar busting either. This guy, Danny Johnson, is classy. He's a real musician who plays piano, guitar, drums, saxophone and oboe IRL, says The New York Times. But even with his respect for the musical instruments, he still manages to blow through dozens of guitars on his climb to the top.

Where is the top, you ask? It was at a Best Buy store in Manhattan, where this 14-year-old achieved a score of 973,954 on the DragonForce tune "Through the Fire and Flames" in Guitar Hero III. He broke the world record, coming close to hitting all 3,722 notes perfectly, but missed just short of perfect because the blue button broke under his fierce finger power.

And the 80 Guitar Hero guitars he's gone through? That was in just nine months' time.

Talk about shredding in a literal sense. I can't believe that these guitars simply fall apart like that... they should be sturdier, regardless of what song you're playing.

I'd rather talk about how many groupies I've banged than say, oh, talking about how many plastic guitars I've broken.

*sigh*...I take it those "World Record" people never go to YouTube.

GuitarHeroPhenom 100% video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wkZYBJGaMk

GuitarHeroPhenom, or Danny Johnson, has posted a bunch of his stuff on his YouTube. He's also the first to 100% The Devil Went Down to Georgia. I take it since he was in front of alot of people, he didn't FC (Full Combo) the song there.

Seriously though, he is the best GH player in the world. He's just a beast. Just look at his vids.

this is retarded. GH and RB are fun, but get over yourself - if you break 80 guitars, change your playing style or give it up...
obvious joke time: when he hits a million - CONGRATULATIONS!! YOU'RE.... A...... FAG!!!

No surprise here. The guitars are made like shit. Most of the expert songs seems like they're designed to break the freaking strum bar.

God damn you people with musical talent. I by that I mean the IRL skills he has, not the Guitar Hero stuff.

I love all the people insulting him, jealous much? You're like acting bratty children.

And yea, that's pretty insane.

Wow, when I first read the title I could've sworn I saw 18. I mean 80... Just couldn't be possible.

But then I got to the last paragraph and had to double check. Yep, pretty possible, it turns out.

guess the comments go to show, you can only be so good at a game before you transform from someone who kicks ass at a game to someone who is socially inept and does nothing but practice a game to impress people. its so obvious, there's no such thing as a talent for something.

The insanely boring video of the "record"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKQtWar7mqc

Look at the complete lack of emotion. Why even bother at that point? Play to have fun, jeez.

Also, don't blame broken buttons when you clearly fucked up (6:52 in the video) If the button was broke you wouldn't have finished the song with 4x multiplier.

I know you guys are pretty into the whole GH thing, and I'll admit it takes a lot of skill to do right.

I can't even get the bass line on easy right.

But imagine if this kid put that effort into a real guitar? He'd rival Carlos Santana, FFS! I guess GH is easier since it gives you feedback on how well you're doing, and gives you points even when absolutely crap. You don't get that with a real guitar.
