Guitar Hero III DLC revealed: We gotta fight the powers that be photo
     Screw over your customers!

Thanks to the lads at Official Xbox Magazine we've got word of three upcoming packs of DLC for Guitar Hero III. The OXM kids make buckets of cash for doing this sort of thing, so let's let them tell it:

Expect a Foo Fighters pack with All My Life, The Pretender and This Is A Call, a Velvet Revolver pack with Slither, She Builds Quick Machines and Messages and the final pack for the boss battle music.

That all sounds pretty in line with what we've come to expect from the series as far as DLC, but following that logic these packs will also be exorbitantly priced. I suppose we have gamers' natural tendency towards a sedentary lifestyle to blame, but would it really have killed anyone to not buy those 500 point rehashes out of protest? This isn't Selma, Alabama and people aren't going to be sending dogs after you or training fire hoses on your ass if you stand up for what you believe in -- or more importantly, what I believe in: not spending all of my lunch money on Incubus songs.

Activision, you have one chance to prove yourself. If you blow it, we will take this to the streets. I left a message with Chuck D this morning, and we've already got like 60 "Free Mumia" signs, so we're one Danny Aiello away from a riot.

This makes Variable happy:

"Expect a Foo Fighters pack with All My Life, The Pretender and This Is A Call..."

I love the Foo Fighters! Pricing may still suck, but this is the pack I am most likely to pick up.

This makes Variable fear:

"...and the final pack for the boss battle music."

Could you not put it on the disc, Neversoft. No you just wanted us to pay more for the privilege, right? Now that is BS!

I have to agree with both Joe and ArrestedDeveloper. Everlong is much better than those other Foo Fighters songs, and a Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness song pack would be fucking epic

Awesome or not, if they go with the lame ass pricing they did with GHII (which sadly, there isn't any reason why they won't) PLEASE don't throw down any cash for it! The prices of these packs were ridiculous and the fact that people put down good money is even more so.

Fight the Man!
(and by 'man' I mean greedy bastard execs who charge too damn much for 3 piddly-shit songs)

@TheMartino

I was about to say the same thing.

Seriously, WTF, could they not have just made it playable in quickplay and not battle only?

for real, if they charge for the boss battle music, they're INSANE. Charging for content that is IN the game.

So, if the music is already on the disc, why don't we just find a good hack and get all the content we payed for... For the money we already payed for it?

i refues to support such prices.

besides i have plenty of friends who love to support such prices thus granting me the opportunity to play them regardless.

but still... for shame activision. this world is not big enough for 2 EAs.

I would laugh so hard if the PS3 song packs (assuming these are 360 packs only) were priced lower than the 360 packs. And then I’d buy those PS3 song packs.

OH HOLY SHIT! My favorite band (foo fighters) and one of my other favourites with a song i think is perfect for gh3/rockband (slither). All of a sudden, gh3's songlist is beating rockbands quite easily.

I'm gonna laugh my ass off if the boss tracks cost points, it will be funny to see the myriad of people bitching about it and then buying it.
