Guitar Hero II song packs expensive: We are part of the problem photo

The Guitar Hero II 360 song packs went live today -- three songs per pack, each pack is 500 points. That's like, six dollars and change for three songs. In some cases, songs you might not even want.

Pack 1: Bark at the Moon, Hey You, Ace of Spades
Pack 2: Killer Queen, Take it Off, Frankenstein
Pack 3: Higher Ground, Infected, Stellar

These are all tracks from the original Guitar Hero; while it should be noted that the songs do contain Guitar Hero II style co-op tracks (bass or rhythm guitar are playable), it's of little consolation. You can buy the original PS2 game for $40 new and even cheaper used; to build that same song library (including bonus tunes) using this pricing, it would cost close to $100.

I can't even fathom how much ecstacy was being snorted when the decision makers behind this pricing decided consumers would be okay with this great service. If you pay for this s**t, you are a f**king a**hole and you are part of the problem (no offense if you've already been raped this morning). You're sending the message to publishers that this is okay, that you'll bend over and take anything they have to offer.

Vote with your dollars -- go buy a PlayStation 2.

I got really excited when I found out that GH1 tracks would be availible for download, which is why I got the damn 360 version in the first place.

I got even more excited when they said three songs would be availible barely a week later. Imagine my excitement at finding out NINE songs are availible!

Imagine how much I'm crying myself to sleep tonight because I come to realize I wasted 90 bucks on a game I already had for PS2 for NO good reason. Guess it's wonky frets and no co-op on PS2 for those songs.

5) If you don't like it, DON'T BUY IT!!! I will think no less of you.

No. We think less of you. And I don't mean to single you out. I don't know you. I don't care about you in particular. So don't go flame. But jesus christ. Buying these packs says its alright to charge this. If you don't buy them its possible they'll go down in price. The point is to send the message to microsoft and activision and any little shit company involved. Buying music off of itunes give you music that is, in many cases, cheaper than buying the actual cd or about equal to. Not re-buying an old game for an obscene amount of money. That should in theory be handed to you in a gold-wrapped cast model of natalie portman's vagina. Because you just payed $90 to re-purchase a controller and game.

And no one here uses itunes. This is the internet. We steal.

Ugh. I sold the first one to get the 360 one. I even bought 1600 points just so I would have enough.

I expected 200, maybe 300 points if they were going overboard.

But 500? MORE than the cost of a Live Arcade game? For THREE songs ? Almost 20 bucks for 9 songs I played nearly to death in the first one?

Nah. Think I'll buy Boom Boom Rocket today instead.

It's been said to death, but don't support this, people. If you do, you're letting them know it's okay to send another three songs our way for the same price.

@My Mom

You might think "It's my money" but it doesn't mean people won't think you're a fool (which you are). Think about the time you'll spend playing these crappy songs (yes, they're all crappy songs). What.. 1.. 2 times? I know since your parents pay for everything, you have no idea what that money could be saved for, but regardless of all of that... you're the biggest fool on the internet. And that's just depressing :-(

I can see their thinking like,
'Hey, it'll take some real suckers to buy 3 songs at this price... Oh wait, everyone already shelled out $90 to play this dross anyway, so they definetly ARE suckers. Bonus!'

I signed the petition, I hope something comes of this.
I honestly would not have bought this game had I known the prices for the DLC would be so much. I bought this game strictly for the DLC, seeing as I had already beat the PS2 version. This, along with the defective guitar whammy, has really soured my taste of GH2 on Xbox 360, which I was so excited for.

I'm thinking of selling my GH2 or trying to take it back to Wal Mart, citing the Whammy issue. I really wish I hadn't supported this to begin with.

people on these forums are so whiney about price.
Look no matter who makes the game Microsft controls the distribution. It's Microsofts console. IF you get all uppity and claim it's your because you paid for it they WILL brick it for you out of warranty.

$5 isn't all that bad given you actually spend a few hours playing those tracks.

They will charge $5 for the packs for a while then drop down the prices stating thay they have listened to you and you have sway. Then of course they will introduce new packs are $5 but the old ones will be cheaper.

This is the petition online that is happening right now. Not that I think it will do shit for this situation...but you can calculate the amount of money they are possibly losing already if you multiply the 20 dollar price for all 3 packs with the number of people on the petition. It's about 100k right now...terrible...

Absolute horseshit. Try selling all 3 packs combined for $5, and then maybe. That would probably even still be too much. People don't want downloadable 2-year-old content, we want downloadable NEW content. To alleviate some of the bitchery, in my opinion, they should come up with 15 song packs, grouped by genre, and sell those for $5. That way, you don't have someone who really likes punk/rock, Bad Religion, and the song Infected have to pay money for a crappy Stevie Wonder cover and a overgrown Starbucks band's song.
