Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s website launched, still not punk photo

Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s has become some sort of sick obsession for me. In its currently revealed form, I can guarantee I won't be purchasing it, but I've spent more time discussing, dissecting and analyzing it over the last two days than I have eating, sleeping, masturbating, or telling the story of the girl I went out with who turned out to be a furry, combined.

The official website for the title went live earlier today, and along with providing a home on the 'net for the upcoming title, it revealed three new tracks from the likes of Accept, Scandal and Oingo Boingo.

As much as I adore the pre-Hollywood work of Danny Elfman, the notable lack of any tracks from The Misfits makes my mascara run. If they want people to see this release as the heir apparent to the Official-Game-of-Drunk-Hipsters-crown held by the previous titles in the series, they're going to have to do better than generic hair bands and mainstream New Wave.

Oingo Boingo, nice. And you're absolutely right, this game needs some Misfits. The Damned would be a good choice too.

And I want "Dancing with Myself" by Generation X, but that's probably a few years too early for an 80's compilation.

No punk? Good. Less bad music, then.

Is it bad that I legitimately like both Danny Elfman and the Misfits? "Dig Up Her Bones" would be nice.

Thought not.

Black Flag, but mostly because I just get a hard on for Henry Rollins.

Ah, the music of my youth. The inclusion of "Only A Lad" makes this an automatic purchase for me.

"Dig Up Her Bones" is an awesome song. So is "Die, Die, Die My Darling".

Anyways, Guitar Hero 2 hasn't really caught onto punk rock yet? Why the hell not?

The huge amount of punk they wont use IS too simple, three cords can only go so far, same goes for length of songs.

They could be smart and include some late eighties early nineties punk into GHIII, it wouldnt be hard to include some NOFX,Operation Ivy,Guttermouth, The hiddy's remake of KOA,The Vandals and so on..It's just all the real early stuff is short, fast and simple.Better suited for Rock Band(fuck I hope)or extra tracks.

It wouldn't hurt to throw some ska in either, quite a few ska bands had very intricate songs that would translate well.Skankin Pickle would be great! Or some Skunks! I could go on forever.

The only way they could do misfits on guitar hero is put one of the fast songs in like "Death Come Ripping" and MAKE you do only downpicks, just like doyle... Yes I realize he only did down picks because he pretty much sucked back then, but that's besides the point!

Although complete against the bands morals and philosiphy, I think it would be pretty damn funny to see some Leftover Crack in there. Maybe 'One Dead Cop', 'Rock The 40 oz' or 'NC'.
