Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Steve Tyler has a gigantic mouth. Sorry, I just needed to get that off my chest.

Anyway, we just got word on the pricing and packaging info for Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. The game and guitar bundle will go for $99 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii, and $89 for the PS2. Even more awesome for PS2 owners is that there will be a another package bundle where the game will come with TWO guitars for only $110. These guitars in the bundle, however, will be wired versions.

There's also going to be some nice swag for all of you Aerosmith fans who pre-order the game. Pre-ordering the game and guitar will get you an exclusive Aerosmith faceplate, and an Aerosmith tour book.

So which "Combination" are you planning on getting? I'm surprised they didn't "Make It" all wireless. "All the Young Dudes" love wireless these days. In any case, I'm ready to "Walk this Way" to my local retailer and pre-order Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. And "No Surprize", my jokes are horrid ... "Love in an Elevator."

[Update: OK, everything is cleared up. All versions come with a wireless guitar except for the two guitar package for the PS2. Again, sorry for the confusion.]

Why did they go with wired this time? Weren't all the gh3 guitars wireless? Kind of taking a step back.

LOL. WTF is with the drum set shown on the box? Are they trying to mislead people into thinking it will work with the Rock Band drums or something?

I also see no point in this product and will not be getting it, especially not for $100.

Wait I'm even more confused... the box at the top for the ps3 version says wireless guitar. Did that change?

AHAHAHAHA
Oh... jesus. Fuck no!
If I find out anyone bought this, I will ridicule them forever.

And it looks like a "Train Kept' Rollin'" all over your humor, CTZ.

Methinks it's the other way around on this one based on box art. Also, any info on standalone version pricing? That seems to be full price, and for essentially another "Rocks the 80s" that's a crock of crap.

My mom is one of the biggest Aerosmith fanatics ever..no joke she has a huge vinyl of the wings on the front of her car, she pre-ordered it a month or so ago. I'll play it when I have nothing better to do though.

Until they let harmonix release the patch for rockband I won't be buying another one. That and there is no reason to release something like this for PS3 and 360 when you could do down loadable song packs.
Necros's Avatar
Necros at 04/15/2008 17:39
Wait, if they're wired, why does that picture show wireless for PS3? I didn't even know they made wired Les Pauls for the 360, only old Xplorer models.

And I would have totally paid full price for Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s...if the songs hadn't been total shit. I think the same applies for this version: I want to see a track list before I get outraged over pricing.

I'm a sucker for Aerosmith so I'm gonna get this. I was gonna buy the 360 version with the guitar but now I'm kinda put off that it's wired. Not that it's much of an issue. Just seems like a step backwards.

Then again, that custom Aerosmith faceplate is pretty sweet.

Wow, if I didn't think the whole pricing factor was sketchy enough, Activision is expecting to you pay the same price as a GH3 bundle for a wired guitar and half the songs (more or less).

That bundle just screams rip off.

@ razerangel: Yup, but it's one of the "other artists" tracks in the collection. Just let CTZ go with it. :) I actually consider it a David Bowie song myself, since he wrote and sang the song for Mott the Hopple to keep them from quitting on the music business. Amusingly, it's pretty much the only song they're remembered for.

Since I'm in the market for a second guitar anyway, I might go ahead and get the bundle and save $10 on the game. I still wish they'd re-release Guitar Hero 1 & 2 for non-Playstation systems though.

So they all come with wireless guitars. Good. I shall be getting the 360 version with the guitar then. I like how everyones callign this a rip off when we have no idea how many songs are in the game. Also they are not all Aerosmith songs. A 60-40 split according to the Aerosmith website.

INDIGNATION! OUTRAGE~~!!

Come on, guys. It's the same deal it's always been for Guitar Hero games. And it's not really "Rock The 80's" as there are more songs, I'm sure a higher percentage of them coming from the original artists (considering Aerosmith is obviously doing all their own songs), they added new venues, characters, animations...I can't argue that they could have just done these as DLC, but 60 songs for $60 is a lot better deal than buying DLC packs for $2+ per song. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Let's not start with the whole "damn cash grabbing tactics" complaints because a) we knew all along that GH games would just become new collections of songs (how many new features can you really add?) and b) Rock Band will do it to and YOU KNOW IT. There will be a Rock Band 2, and 3, and on and on, DLC be damned.

@ Kyo: Confirmed so far:

All the Young Dudes by Mott the Hoople, Dream Police by Cheap Trick, I Hate Myself for Loving You by Joan Jett, All Day and All of the Night by The Kinks, Complete Control by The Clash, and Personality Crisis by New York Dolls.

Rumors are saying we'll also be getting songs from Lenny Kravitz, The Black Crowes, Run-DMC, Stone Temple Pilots, Deep Purple, and The White Stripes.

@Akathatoneguy

Actually, Harmonix has stated publicly that producing rock band 2 and 3 ect. is exactly what they don't want to do. The idea is to make the first product good enough to be continually upgraded adding value and playability at a lower cost than the purchace of a new game. Saves money for them on the production side, and saves money for us by not having to shell out 60 bux for WHATEVERTHEHELLTHATISACTIVISIONHASPUKEDUP.

If you spend just 60 dollars more you could SING "all the young dudes". That would be awesome.

I'm curious to know if the difficulty is on-par with GH3 or if they wreched it up even higher or backed it off to Rock Band level.
Android8675's Avatar
Android8675 at 04/18/2008 10:56
@KyleGamgee: I agree with you, I put down GH3 the day Rockband came out, my 37 year old fingers just can't perform feats like what GH3 demanded you perform. I've never gotten past Guitar Hero on Hard, 1, 2 or 3, they just keep ramping up the difficulty. When I get better they crank it up a notch and I have to go back to medium. I passed Guitar Hero 2 on Hard a while back, but it took a considerable effort.

Now that albums are out for Rock Band, I hope they add online World Tour mode, or announce Rock Band 2, asap.
