The new game will be released on the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Wii™ video game system from Nintendo. Turning it up to 11, Guitar Hero fans will channel their inner rock god using Gibson Guitar’s Les Paul and Kramer models as the industry standard. In addition, players will experience an incredible number of newly added features and explosive content including a new multiplayer action-inspired battle mode, grueling boss battles, a bevy of exclusive unlockable content and authentic rock venues. Expanded online multiplayer game modes will also allow axe-shredders worldwide to compete head-to-head for true legendary rock status. While continuing to retain all the key features from their prior legendary performances, fresh downloadable content will be offered on multiple platforms, and players can now shred to a killer set list from many of the gnarliest rock songs ever recorded. Delivering more master tracks than ever before, strategic partnerships have been secured with all the major and independent music record labels and publishers to allow unrivaled access to their deep history of music catalogs, along with supplying artists’ original recordings for even greater authenticity. The initial list of face-melting awesomeness includes:
* Paint It Black (by The Rolling Stones) * Cherub Rock (by Smashing Pumpkins) * Sabotage (by Beastie Boys) * The Metal (by Tenacious D) * My Name is Jonas (by Weezer) * Knights of Cydonia (by Muse) * Rock And Roll All Nite (as made famous by Kiss) * School’s Out (as made famous by Alice Cooper) * Slow Ride (as made famous by Fog Hat) * Cult of Personality (by Living Colour) * Barracuda (as made famous by Heart)
For the first time ever, Guitar Hero fans will also be able to thrash and burn with new wireless guitar controllers available for each platform. The exclusive Gibson guitars will include innovative features such as removable faceplates that will allow fans to later personalize their guitars and make it their own, and a new button color design that will be integrated for an even greater authentic feel and rock experience. Gibson Guitar’s Les Paul model will be the battle axe of choice, and an industry standard for all rock gods on the Xbox 360™, PLAYSTATION®3 system, and Wii™. After much anticipation, PlayStation®2 system fans will also be receiving a new exclusive shape as well, the classic Kramer guitar, also a Gibson brand, popularized by hard rockers and known for its body design, pickups, electronics, and construction for furious finger fretting.
“The development team at Neversoft has been exceptional, and we’ve been able to incorporate a host of fresh new online and multi-player game play modes, along with exciting content into this version of Guitar Hero that our fans have been asking for. Also, many of the top bands and songs we’ve tried to get in the past are now on board, and we’ve definitely got some giant aces in the hole to say the least,” said Dusty Welch, head of publishing at RedOctane. “In addition, offering a new line of Gibson wireless guitars for each platform is going to truly add to the authentic rock star experience like no other.” The next iteration of Guitar Hero, published by RedOctane® and developed by Neversoft, is not yet rated by the ESRB. The D?
Fuckaluckadingdong.
Wow, best songs are all covers...so much for a step up.
i like the twisted metal black version of paint it black better than the original.
Nice so far.
Amb - I'm pretty sure that was the Tea Party covering Paint It Black, IIRC.
That Muse song will be sick.
WEEZER
It's Sabatoge!
Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones
Cherub Rock - Smashing Pumpkins
Sabotage - Beastie Boys
The Metal - Tenacious D
My Name is Jonas - Weezer
Knights of Cydonia - Muse
Cult of Personality - Living Colour
Rock And Roll All Nite - Kiss
School's Out - Alice Cooper
I JUST DIEEEEDDDEEDDDD!!
Muse? Living Color? Not bad, not bad at all.
I am so excited for GHIII right now because of that list already. I cannot wait to play Muse. When I first heard that song I thought "This would be awesome to play in Guitar Hero", but I never thought it would actually make it into a game. I can't wait.
I'd prefer Stockholm Syndrome instead of Knights of Cydonia if they're going to grab a Muse song, but I'm not in a very complaining mood when they got the original version of Paint It Black. Sounds good!
I'm excited for a lot of these songs, but I read that they're changing the colors on the buttons. I read it at Joystiq. I hope they fucking with me. I don't need another guitar.
Still...orgasming...
Spoogtastic!!!!
Now we just need SOAD.
I'm a huge fan of Guitar Hero, but this is crap. What is the point of even offering DLC on the 360 version of GHII and then not even using it for anything but to piss a bunch of people off?
So the new versions great innovations are new songs, a wireless guitar, and some new multiplayer modes? Well that's awesome.
What a bunch of crap.
(I'm still buying this, though)
Yes! Muse!
I officially can't wait for this game.
FUCK YES TO MUSE
that is all
You mean AOL JOYSTINQ? (NSFW)
Double FUCK YES to it actually being Muse and not a cover band. Can't wait.
that is all, again, for now
Hot damn! Muse FTW.
"The exclusive Gibson guitars will include innovative features such as removable faceplates that will allow fans to later personalize their guitars and make it their own, and a new button color design that will be integrated for an even greater authentic feel and rock experience."
Check yo self fool!
Still no EYEHATEGOD...
but then again, whatever, that's why I own a real guitar.
LISTEN ALLY'ALL IT'S SABOTAGE!!!
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
(backs are now against the wa-all)
I'm stoked Muse is on this game but Knights of Cydonia is a little too easy. I wish Assassin or Stockholm Syndrome would've been used instead.
.....Rock and Roll All Nite?
...
..I wouldn't care if Sonic Team were developing the game at this point-- I'm sold.
Paint it Black!!! OMGZOR me must get next gen consola now!!!
Great frakking list so far, hopefully the rest is not filler garbage.
I give a hearty +1 to Snaileb's list:
Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones
Cherub Rock - Smashing Pumpkins
Sabotage - Beastie Boys
The Metal - Tenacious D
My Name is Jonas - Weezer
Knights of Cydonia - Muse
Cult of Personality - Living Colour
Rock And Roll All Nite - Kiss
School's Out - Alice Cooper
Who the hell is Muse?
Bah this all looks like crap to me except for Kiss and Tenacious D. Though there are better D songs.
It is not "face melting" without DragonForce. Just a heads up, Activision.
SlimJimm, I highly recommend you listen to Muse right now. They're really good, but aren't one of the "mainstream" bands in America, but they're getting bigger and more popular. Any song would be fine to listen to, although the song that got me onto them was Muscle Museum, which I still love.
mmmm GOOD weezer
I only know of 2 Muse tracks..."time is running out" is my fav.
Thanx Orcist, I can't believe how many good songs/bands they got, AND they're the original artist not some cover.
SlimJim, how can you call Smashing Pumpkins/Muse crap?
Go listen to your Linkin ParK, perhaps that is more along the lines of your intellegence.
Anybody who chats in forums AND has DORK in their name MUST love weezer.
BARRACUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDAHHHHHHHH
Give me more metal! You all know you want to play Raining Blood.
I would like to see KMFDM, NIN, and maybe Powerman 5000..
I was really hoping Knights of Cydonia would make it into this one so apparently someone over there is reading my mind. Also it's about time we got some Weezer.
Prays for Ben Gibbard to throw in a Death Cab track so that Nex will be faced with a huge catch 22.
I'm happy Muse, Kiss, Beastie Boys and the D will be one there. The Metal is a good song by them, but not their best. I still wish they would put some ska or more punk in those damn games!
baracuda!!! w00t w00t! i remember hearing this 3 weeks ago and wishing it was on guitar hero II!!! :D anyway, red octane usually keeps the best songs a secret until later, so yeah... we'll see soon enough!!
Also, am I the only one who hates Kiss with a passion?
Ska? Guitar hero, not trumpet hero!
@guitaratomik
definitely not.
For those who don't know Muse or at least don't know of Knights of Cydonia, go here:
http://www.josephkahn.com
Watch the video for that song there. The video for Muscle Museum is pretty good too. Don't bother watching these on Youtube, the quality on the JK site is much better.
And btw, the Muscle Museum site is slightly NSFW. There's about 1 second of hot chick laying naked on a bed. You only see her ass though.
These are fine and good, but more modern songs would be nice. I'm 20, not 40. KISS is alright, I guess, but it's all fake nostalgia. Wheres the new songs? Take the Elite Beat Agents soundtrack and make that a GuitarHero game.
Snaileb, you are right but I do love the metal too!
Blindside I'm fucking listening to 'Only in Dreams' right now by Weezer.
DoomTrain : Smashing Pumpkins, The D, Beastie Boys, Weezer, Muse, AND Alice are all early 90'S, late 80's, and I prefer that instead of 30 seconds to mars or whatever gay emo modern crap you can listen to on the radio.
