Guitar Hero 2 to have online play? Keep hope alive! photo

Still need a reason to pony up more money for another version of Guitar Hero? Well it seems that Red Octane has informed GameSpy that the 360 version of Guitar Hero 2 could support online play through a downloadable patch:

However, online multiplayer may not quite be dead yet. According to Red Octane, multiplayer is something they really wanted to get in the game, and may still add via an update down the road. The key, it seems, is co-op play, which is a lot trickier to make work (the pro-tourney mode is essentially two players independently playing against the computer, while co-op requires direct interaction between the players). So, while Red Octane isn't making any promises, we're holding out hope that multiplayer might still show up at some point.

Oh man, make it happen. Having online battles or co-op would make the 360 version so much more uber -- not to mention we already know there's gonna be downloadable songs.

That would be so fucking great. Now they just need to get Msoft to let them make a wireless guitar.

Well, a third party company can and probably will put out a wireless 360 guitar, and I think that multiplayer will rule. Now I'm gonna go play some of that crackdown demo.

While I'll probably buy it regardless, this will increase sales like crazy...

as long as it works well.... Amplitude for the PS2 had online play but also had a bug that would make the system sometimes drop notes, making it almost impossible to compete

@ Roryzilla

Microsoft has sole copyright to thier wireless technology on the 360, why do you think there has been no wireless controllers or headsets? they would get sued out of their ass by Microsoft. So, until M$ lets up on their selfishness, then the wireless guitars will come, but to be honest with you, i do not think that is going to happen... Microsoft likes money, and like making it by MAKING the consumer buy their stuff. Its a shifty situation, but oh well, i guess no Guitar throws around my body this time around.

Meh @ wireless, I still prefer my wired 360 controller over the wireless version.

But co-op internet GH2 songs? W00t.

I hope that they do include co-op.

Because then their will be an amazingly addictive and fun game in which 6-year-old-british children who of which have parents with meth habbits, will stay the fuck out of my beloved games, and i mean partys in that statement.

I really don't see the point of having GH playable online. Especially for co-op play. It's a very communal game, and I just don't see it having the same feeling like that. Also I imagine coding things to look like they're synced properly in a rythym game over the internets isn't fun.

yeah wireless for that game isn't that big of a deal to me just because I'm used to it with GH1 on PS2. and let microsoft keep there wireless technology, that's their right to do what they want with their system. Apple has held onto their proprietary technology for decades now and uber geeks are still stuffing their noses up steve jobs butt.

Developers aren't there to have fun. They're there to do endless amounts of work so that we can rag on it nonstop once we get our hands on their stuff.
