Barcade in Brooklyn hosted a little shindig yesterday in which it invited hopeful gamers to drink a few rounds and beat a world record or two, although not necessarily in that order. Official judges from Guinness were there to do what they do best, and believe it or not, 2 records were actually smashed.
The games? None other than Tapper and Ms. Pac-Man. Michael Przybocki took home the record for fastest time to beat five boards on Tapper with a time of 1'20"43, while Daniel Dujinc beat five boards on Ms. Pac-Man in a record time of 2'05"80.
The other available records to beat were too much for the competition, but I don't blame them. Highest Out-Run Score (52,897,690), highest Ghosts 'n Goblins score (1,000,100), and highest Donkey Kong score without using the hammer *gasp* (317,000) -- beating any of these would be quite an amazing feat.

Michael Przybocki tapped that. Aww yeah...
More like "Tap Her"
O I c wut u did thar
Tap that game...
Hm, I've only ever seen this game as "Root Beer Tapper" before. That image under the title seems to suggest that they're tapping something else...
Scandalous!
@Dexter345
In the original version of the game you were tapping "Budweiser"...They changed it to root beer because of kids playing it IIRC
Root Beer tapper rocks my socks.
Wish I couldve seen that tapper speed run. These people with their arcade feats amaze me!
Przy is a personal friend of mine. He's been playing that game for years and is a prodigy. The second I saw the Dtoid post about this event, I let him know. It's like Guiness taylor made this record for him.
And PS, the Tapper and Ms. Pacman records are new to Guiness, so technically there was no smashing going on.
also technically he's a savant not a prodigy.
Nice to see some coin op coverage!!!
More of that please.
@anoon
Shit yeah!
nice job setting those records!
I still have to try tapper out :-)
Very awesome. Wish I could have been there.
I'm nowhere near any of these scores. Bravo, gentlemen, bravo.
