You can bitch all you want about Guilty Gear 2: Overture going the action brawler/strategy route, but you know you still want to play it. Unlike Capcom, Arc System Works can still play the spin-off card a few more times without harm.
Crafty, in-the-know gamers can play the demo right now, as it is up on Japan's Xbox Live as a 717mb download. So far, this is a Japan-only demo, but there are ways to get it.
The information (Japanese) given by Major Nelson strongly points to this demo being the same thing we played on the Tokyo Game Show floor, which allowed only the tutorial and VS CPU modes to be played. If that's the case, gamers won't be able to get their hands on the real meat of the game, and I can safely say that you're not missing much.
Japan is seeing a November 29th release date, though no date has been given for a North American release.

downloading it right now... still think they should have put there minds to better use and made an actual sequel to the series... so many recreations then this... meh this is whats killing good 2d fighters people are giving up. I for one would still buy a beautifully animated 2d fighter over a "shiny" 3d fighter. meh..
I love the guilty gear series, music and art style especially. But this is a step in the wrong direction for the series. They could've easily rehauled the engine and redone the sprites to make a new 2d fighter. The new characters look very interesting, hopefully like how A.B.A was moved from Isuna to Slash, these new characters will find themselves in a new version of guilty gear (THE FIGHTING GAME)
why did arc system's do this it was one of the best 2d fighting games made they ruined it hopefully they'll make a normal guilty gear game to go along with this game; Also no Bridget,no fun
If there's one thing Arc's good for, it's interesting choice of character weapons. While I don't doubt that someone somewhere has thought of attacking someone with a flagpole, Arc actually ran with it. Here's hoping the new characters get worked into a REAL guilty gear game, especially Professor Science.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. And Dale, you couldn't leave the story for an hour or so in order for me to post it?
