These aren't the full details we've been waiting for, but it's a decent start. Following the report that director Guillermo del Toro was in talks with a major game company, we now know who's on the other end of the deal. According to the Los Angeles Times, it's none other than THQ.
Reportedly, THQ exec Danny Bilson is the guy trying to make this all happen. His name has been all over the news lately in stories about the company's efforts to expand game licenses to other forms of entertainment, like the Red Faction TV project, so it makes sense.
Having recently watched the teaser trailer for Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, which del Toro is producing and writing, I am feeling super anxious -- even more so than usual -- to see what his involvement in these mystery games is all about. Please let it be meaningful.

Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied:
"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Also, a bit more related, this news is highly relevant to my interests.
remember peter ''where is he now'' jackson's game project?
I hope for this to be more than PR fluff, but it's best to wait for concrete details before we get excited about it. Del Toro is a much more exciting prospect than the overrated jackson, but he has tried to get into gaming before (with a zombie title called sundown) but backed out when he realised how hard it would be to start up a new IP in a new medium.
Dammit, it happened again. I scroll through the articles, I see Darksiders, and instinctively my brain thinks "Darkstalkers". I can't friggin' help it.
@Twelve51
THQ published Granstream Saga, a really fun Quintet RPG that was a part of the "Heaven and Hell Trilogy" (The other two games that were part of that trilogy were Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma.) Granted, that was way back in the early days of the PS1, but still - it's something.
THQ does not own a series which interests me. Hopefully they will be licensing interesting properties for videogame adapatation or creating new properties from scratch.
I am very excited about this, but not about the publisher.
I had no idea that Illusion of Gaia and The Granstream Saga had any connection, besides the fac I liked them both.
