Guild Wars has always been known for its PvP scene. I'm really looking forward to getting into it in GW2, whether or not I get really competitive.
I never played Guild Wars, but GW2 looks great. The fact I only have to buy the game and not pay a monthly fee is pretty awesome. Probably gonna pick this up. Been looking for something fresh since wow.

Well, Guild War's whole point was PVP in Arena's and such. They just happened to also make a lose world/game that was more then that for people who didn't want to PVP at all or all the time. So it's really no surprise they'd be willing to go down the eSports road with this and I find it perfectly acceptable that they do (and am sort of baffled they didn't do this sooner)

Yeah considering that "end game" content for GW1 basically = PvP, this isn't surprising. If any MMO is likely to be taken seriously in the esports world then it's Guild Wars. Look at the name, even. GW is all about PvP.
I love PvP in RPGs like this, but I really don't like arena combat. I miss open world PvP and RvR (oldskool).
It was very competitive and now, with the removal of dual classing, I think balancing won't be a nightmare for them. I mean, once they introduced Assassins, EVERY CLASS COULD TELEPORT. Also some class combos were rape with the right skills, like Ranger/Necro's at one point. Then they nerfed things to the ground, and you really never used like half the skills in the game because of that.
