ToR has left me...meh'd...meh'd enough I'm enjoying WoW again after switching to a different server, but GW2...*boner*
Guild Wars didn't fizzle. A total of three campaigns, an expansion, a thriving and competitive PvP scene, continued seasonal events today, active community, no.. it has far from fizzled.
Again, Guild Wars 1 was not a real MMO - the developers themselves even referred to it as a "Coop RPG" - a la Phantasy Star Online.
I think he meant that it "fizzled" in the eyes of many hardcore MMO fans - which it did. It appealed to a crowd that didn't like conventional MMOs, which is cool, but Guild Wars 2 looks like it's going to appeal to everyone, not just people who like bite-sized adventures - which I am actually interested in.
You can tell a lot from videos and GW2 has had more coverage than your average MMO. There's lots of gameplay videos out there already.
It looks like a lot of fun and this is coming from a guy who's been playing MMO's since 1997. I've been burned MANY times by prospective MMO's enough that I've developed a radar for would-be flops.
GW2 WILL BE the shit. TOR is going to be left as a burning husk after GW2 releases.
Wtf are you talking about? GW1 is still more active than most MMOs not named WoW or TOR.
Really lookin forward to GW2, need more RPGs that are more about gameplay and skill instead of character stats and gear.
I hope they bring back the Ritualist and Dervish class. I have to get more achievements for my character lol.
So far, I love ToR (even though it seems to be the cool thing to hate it now).
I loved Lord of the Rings Online while I played it (about 4-5 months)
I even loved Warhammer for the 1-2 months that I played it.
I HATED Guild Wars. I have never understood the love behind it. But I will watch the coverage since new MMOs always interest me.
As for guild wars 2, someone call me a doctor I've had a boner for this game for so damn long it hurts, just glad it's in its final dev stretch to release now!
I want this so bad.
Annoyingly, I just amde the move from Windows to Mac, so of course that means no GW2 for me. Unless... ohh, unless I buy another computer solely for playing GW2 Would that be too sad? Would that make me one of 'those' people?
