**except for Eternal Champions, Phantom Dust and Dissidia: Final Fantasy.
I already expressed many these same point over at Eurogamer, earlier today.
I'd also add that seeing as how the SFIV engine has been completed, Capcom can reuse it to do exact what they are doing with this version, leaving more focus on the important stuff. If they kept adding characters in expansion, I'd certainly have no problem paying for them on dvd (always better than eating hd space, DLC future or not).
If you love them and SSFIV, buy it and support it. Plenty of other games you can buy, if not this one.
Dudley, Makoto, Ibuki are enough to bring me back, although Alex & Karin would also be a fine addition as well.
This whole multiple Ultras/Ultra Artes and Tandan Saving stuff has me REALLY excited. I can't wait for Capcom to reveal them proper.
Yeah, new characters would suck (actually, the current team does suck at new characters, but that's beside the point). I want to have the same moves and strategies I used 10 years ago. No changes please.[/sarcasm]
SF died because they had 8 million different updates and people didn't want to deal with it anymore. SFIV is repeating the same mistakes as it's predecessors. This is the third version of the game in under two years.
And Juri sucks. Her whole design is made to look "cool". There's not a single bit of classic in her.
This guy says it better than me:http://www.capcom-unity.com/bigmex/blog/2009/09/28/who_the_heck_is_juri
With that being said, there's really no reason anyone should be complaining. No one is forcing you to buy it. You aren't being ripped off, because the copy of SF4 that you've already paid for will still work after this new one comes out. It's not like all existing SF4 discs are going to be erased from existence when this new one comes out. If you think this game is a ripoff, all you have to do is tell Capcom how you feel by not buying it.
all i have to say to this is ....why add T. Hawk. i liked the alpha characters more. i just hope developers dont get used to doing this because i dont want a $60 game to be in 6 months $50 with extra stuff added
"SF died because"
"SF died"
Sorry, when was this? o___O
What? You didn't notice those 9 years where no new SF game was released? Sounds like an effective death to me (at least till it's pathetic resurrection with "IV").
Just because Street Fighter hasn't been in the mainstream public eye for a while it doesn't mean it was dead. The Evo Tournament has been going on for around 10 years already and who even knows about the others and how long they have been going around (probably since SSF2T).
Yes, it does! If Capcom doesn't make new SF games it's effectively dead. Just because it has it's older entries played in tournaments doesn't mean it's alive. Only a few fighting game fanatics play/watch those tournaments. The public doesn't give a crap about them. New games are living SF. Lack of new SF is dead SF.
Hey and that Directors Cut rerelease shit is always a good thing.
lol
And I'll take any new characters...anything to stop the redundancy of the 4 characters played online so much.
Regarding movesets, I'd like a Kikosho for Chun Li, kthx.
Also cocks.
Yeah man, good point!
Now to address the crowd in general-
I felt pretty lukewarm about the regular Street Fighter IV. The new characters weren't all that compelling, and most of the old characters were from taken straight form the SSF2T roster; the same roster we've seen around forever.
SSFIV changes all that. I might finally get to see my dream fight between Ibuki and Guy, and Dudley and Balrog, Ibuki and Cammy, Ibuki and Ibuki... you get what I mean.
It's too soon to say, buy SSFIV could end up being more than just a 3D version of SSF2T, which is more or less what I took SFIV to be. SSFIV could be an honest to God conglomeration of everything I love about Street Fighter. That's something to be excited about.
It's sad to me that people are so focused on how much it's going to cost, or if it will be on disc or not. All of that petty shit is getting in the way of you enjoying a new videogame, people! That aint right!
Plus, Dee Jay and T Hawk actually look cool now. That's something I never thought I'd see happen.
Capcom's gets my money just for that.
Yeah, I figured. Was still holding out hope that the core changes would be an update, and what you'd really be paying for were the extra characters. Oh well. :P
I agree, although I definitley don't think SFIV is just SSF2T2 with 3D graphics. I do agree with this dream match thing though, Dudley Vs. Balrog and Makoto Vs. Abel is going to be awesome. I also agree with how Thunder Hawk and Dee Jay look a lot cooler now.
Yeah, I guess. I'm not really sure whether you're making fun of me or not. I've made that same argument before, but I didn't feel like repeating it for the 800th time.
Actually, the real reason SF died out is because of the many different versions of the series. There were 5 SFII's, 3 SFA, 3 SFEX's, 3 SFIII's, and the various crossover games that also used the characters. You can't expect the public to remain interested when the game they just bought/spent time on would become obsolete in 6 months. Combine that with the series's continues dipping into the SFII well (I like Alpha, but it was a mistake (and of course the constant updates to II)), and the series becoming to complicated for its own good, and you've got an abandoned series.
Also, since SFIV is essentially SSFIIT 3-D, I don't know why you're interested in SSFIV, since that game sounds like SFA3 3-D.
People, just be happy we are getting T. Hawk back!!!!
