As I've always said, if the Move controller offers benefits to an FPS gamer (like FragFX or other optional inputs), then it might be something I would consider... but so far I'm not getting pwned by wagglers!
The last thing I want is the next gen consoles being released without proper controllers.
Also, is that a Spoiler in the picture?
As I understand it, adding Move support is very simple, so I see no reason why one would preclude the other.
Move is basically a 3D mouse, not a light-gun, so yeah, if they refine things, I can definitely see some potential here. There is no need for "waggle", just using the pointing mechanics along with a controller movement. It's just a matter of making the system intuitive and non-invasive. Small wrist movements that mimic a right analog stick would be great.
So I really hope that something else comes along.
I also haven't seen a pointer control that does not have two hardware components. That means more clutter and more cost to gamers.
I also haven't seen a pointer control that is as universally suited to multiple game types as the traditional game pad. Do they expect us to have a traditional game pad and a ponter control? More clutter, more cost, more bullshit.
...that must be some delicious Kool-Aid.
"...that must be some delicious Kool-Aid.", said the cultist.
Seriously.. everything you said is null because of the fact that we're talking about having the Move as an optional controller. You don't like it? Don't use it. Either way, please stop the unnecessary whining.
I'm aware that one doesn't have to preclude the other, my post was in response to jims question that implied that it would.
"Do you want a future where your arm never stops pointing at drawings of space Nazis?"
^this^ was what I was referring to. Sure it a hypothetical question but I went ahead and answered it anyway.
i'm big into goldeneye right now, and i went to a friends place to try out black ops. now BO is a pretty good game, but the controls, like all other hd games, are wonked (technical term). for an experienced fps gamer, i had a really hard time even competing online with the title, let alone getting a killstreak. imagine what it's like for the uninitiated. the current fps games are being made so the same group of people can play the same experience year after year with a new coat of paint. lame. after the experience with BO, we put in goldeneye, and guess what, we were able to play a game mixed with pointer controls and dual stick, and it was fun. an experience we all enjoyed.
i really don't understand the want to continue dual stick controls when point and click is obviously the more immersive experience. also, you can easily have both, as MAG and Goldeneye have shown us. it's an either or situation, not pick and choose. if you want to test my point, find a copy of goldeneye, mag, red steel 2, or even metroid, and tell me dual stick control is more immersive then pointer based control. if you're open minded, you'll see my point.
its there, but devs are so godam lazy to implement it, just like mod support, ps3 supports it fully (ut3). yet they companies like bethseda don't want to give the ps3 a clear advantage over the 360, all the fuck while the 360 gets their dlc first!
i get so fucking mad over the inept decisions to favor one system over the other and say they aren't favoring that system at all!!!
but thats okay, we can mod our own games via hex editor and cfw. another great reason to say "fuck the psn, i can now do what devs and sony won't do for me".
Wow, such unsolicited and unwarranted hostility. I did not reference any proprietary motion controller. I think the Kinect is just as rubbish as the move is just as rubbish as the wiimote. All parties are guilty here, in my opinion.
Chill the fuck out, guy.
But there's no denying that a keyboard/mouse setup allows for greater accuracy and more control.
that, and i've never played an fps with "waggle," so i don't think those comments are coming from a place of experience. seriously guys, start playing your wii again, there are some really compelling experiences to be had with motion control.
My thoughts exactly. It's just too awkward after years of Playstation and Xbox controllers.
I Like to use the Wii-mote for FPS's but I think that it's IR not motion controls. There was motion aiming in Bully Wii and it was awful it deterred me from using the slingshot
Cant say anything about move as I haven't tried it but if it plays like Wii IR controls then I might like it.
But if I had the option to choose between a wiimote/nunchuk or a controller. Ill stick with controller.
I think many casual gamers people who otherwise wouldn't bother with a title like Killzone will look at go "oh hey, I'm kinda good at Time Crisis and might like this!"
I'm all for this as long as it's not the ONLY control method. Forcing people to play with motion controls when they prefer a dual shock is ludicrous, just like forcing people into DD when they prefer a physical copy is ludicrous.
