Guardian Heroes sequel possible if XBLA port is a success photo

If you haven't been going door to door to convince the world Guardian Heroes is worth playing, now's the time. Speaking of the Xbox Live Arcade game, Treasure's Hiroto Matsuura tells Eurogamer "The project started as Guardian Heroes 2, but the publisher -- that's SEGA -- said in order to create a sequel, they wanted us to revitalize the IP."

"So instead of starting on the sequel we made a remake. The original core game mechanics is a 2D, layer-based game, and that's what we like about it. We may create characters and backgrounds in 3D, but the core mechanics will be the same [if GH2 happens]."

Makes total sense, but usually no one is willing to say anything on the record. So, here you go, die-hards. Here's a cause you can support.

Thankfully Sega has forgotten about the horrible gba sequel guardian heroes got. I personally do not think Treasure's strength is in sequels, they push the boundaries of what can be done with each game that the sequels just never live up to the hype.

@djvlive Odin Sphere is VanillaWare not Treasure. Dragons Treasure looks like a great new beat em up from them as well as Grand Knights History. Both with that great art style.

Considering they made a sequel to Sin & Punishment based on the download sales of the Virtual Console version, I really hope a good amount of people download this as well.

Can't wait for the release.

oh I know the difference between Vanillaware and Treasure. I mean as far as shooters- Treasure wins. As far as 2D sidescrolling action games? Vanillaware takes the cake. Almost every Treasure game was a shooter anyway (Gunstar Heroes, Silhouette Mirage) and I had more fun with Princess Crown on Saturn then I did with this (even though I couldn't read any Japanese).

Also? Props to your pic bruv

Legendary game gets downloadable sequel? You'd think Legendary game = legendary sequel?

I really hope this is just the start of a ton of Saturn games coming to XBLA. There were a lot of gems in the library that never got the love they deserved back in the day, or are just simply impossible to get ahold of now.

They already made a sequel. They made Guardian Heroes Advance and it was terrible.

@djvlive: i think guardian heroes moveset and overall pacing was better than any vanillaware game ive ever played... also, they definitely made a lot more than shooters.. silhouette mirage, stretch panic, mischief makers, dynamite headdy, that mcdonalds game for genesis, light crusader, rakugaki showtime, and wario world for gamecube were all treasure titles (some good like mischief makers, and some bad like stretch panic).... theyre actually pretty diverse.

as for a(nother) guardian heroes sequel.. i dont know man. i often forget the gba game exists.. and this game is my favorite game of all time.. id rather them just make a completely new beat em up in GH's style.

NO 3D. Keep it 2d hand-drawn or call it something other than Guardian Heroes.

Wouldn't it be fun if in the long awaited sequel to Guardian Heroes (not counting Advance Guardian Heroes), all of the new playable characters were some variant of Barrier Warrior/Healer like Nicole?

I will buy this title Day 1 for Xbox and PS3 (because I don't have live, and it would be fun to play with friends [which don't have Live either])

You're right- but shooters and 2D platforming-shooters are really what they are known for. Actually some of their fighting games were even pretty good but just didn't do as well as their shooters. As far as pacing they are arcade games so its a little bit different then Vanillaware.

If Treasure release this on PSN, I would buy it and contribute to the chanes of a sequel happening in a heart beat. I loved playing the original on the Saturn.

if you really want a game to be successful, then release it on multiple systems. dont limit your sales to just 1.
