GTA on Wii ... it's not natural, I tells ya! Also, Houser talks DS photo

Rockstar Games' Dan Houser has been talking about Grand Theft Auto on the Wii, and why the studio has thus far not graced Nintendo's white box o' waggle with one of its controversial sandbox games. According to the Rockstar co-founder, they just weren't feeling it.

"It didn't feel natural to us, I guess," Houser explains, which is quite funny considering it felt natural enough to release Manhunt 2. As you may recall, Manhunt 2 is as close to seedy as a violent game can get, yet that appeared on the Wii. Houser added that Rockstar "[hasn't] really done any concrete, major thinking about the Wii, one way or another."

Rockstar is at least more open to the DS, and seems quite happy that Chinatown Wars is coming to the dual-screened portable. "It really was that the DS felt like it had a lot of interesting challenges that would be totally different from what we'd done in the past," he stated.

"The stylus and the chance to use minigames in that way was really interesting and exciting to us, and we thought we could integrate seamlessly between those two modes. And it would be the chance to make something really good on a handheld with our handheld-focused team. That was really why we went that way."

Would GTA on the Wii feel right to you guys? Also, who's up for some stylus minigames?

I played through Bully on the Wii, and although the controls were frustrating at times (DOWN on the d-pad to JUMP?), it was still a really fun game. I think a new GTA game made for the Wii could be really great. Bully was a port with some extra bells and whistles, and it was pretty obvious sometimes while playing it.

GTA Classics Collection on the Wii (GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories) would be amazing. Make it 2-disc if you need to.

Jim, Jim... JIM! Don't interupt me Jim!

But for serial, i think that would be just what my Wii needs, it has been sitting alone and forgotten lately. Even my N64 has been getting more love.

If the Wii had the install base of the DS I'm sure they would find the wiimote more "exciting" than the stylus.

Man, Housser is such a fucking idiiot. I guess he's too stupid to play Scarface and Godfather: Blackhand on the Wii. He can't even write a competent script for GTA after all these years.

Don't worry, once stockholders demand a GTA Wii and Take-Two tells Rockstar to get on the ball, Housser would have changed his tune.

Fucking idiots. Support the market leader you dumb fucks!!!

@exodus1925

That's why the PS2 versions sold so horribly, right? Nobody played those. Look at Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy - Proof that Wii can make 360-like graphics. I have had most of my guests confuse Brawl and Galaxy for 360 games, so the Wii is definately powerful enough.

(1) It's not really NSFW. No nudity whatsoever. Not even a decent depiction of intercourse. (2) Honestly, if you people read video game blogs while you're supposed to be working, you deserve whatever you get.

Also, is that Charlie Murphy up there?

@Giga and Sharpless: That line is going to go on for ages.

Anyways, A GTA Wii would be nice, though.

I'd like Saint's Row, with it's shock paddles, more.
