Great, dude. How about right now? Or even anytime soon?
Fine, I'm sure he didn't mean it in that way, but we can only hear the old story of how they're taking their time to do a good job so many times.
Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi told Famitsu that they have been tweaking the game, and it's coming along, slowly but surely. He says that he's working right now to get "that classic GT-style," but it could be good to go now, and that they "could release it any time we want." I love one Joystiq commenter's response to Yamauchi's claims: "I can cure cancer any time I want...but I won't."
To be fair, Yamauchi is working to make the game good, saying "I want to go way beyond gamer expectations."

That said, release this mutha!!! I NEED IT!!!!
Exactly. It's like they've lost touch with reality. Sounds.. so familiar...
Just sayin'...
how's it competition when both Forza and GT are console exclusive?
OMG, you owned so many fanboys right there.
I doubt PD wants to be outdone by T10 in terms of reviews and praise.. have you seen the positive responses F3 is getting as of late?
If GT5 released in December like it was supposed to, it would've paled in comparison to F3. Just like the insideracingsim reviewers said, it's obvious they're going back and trying to polish it up after seeing F3.
last week i bought a ps2 again, just to play gran turismo 4.
Forza 2 was good and i eagerly await Forza 3. Still Gran Turismo has that certain feel to it. The career mode, the arcade mode and the license tests make the game. Lets see what Forza 3 will bring to the table.
I have GT5 and a G25's money ready and I can't wait for its release
Actually to some creating games is an artform, and making the best possible experience for the players takes top priority over money, and I rather like that approach then trying to justify half assness with business reasons.
Honestly to me GT5 looks better than forza 3 right now, and its development isn't even finished yet. That really says something. If I honestly did wanta sim racer (I don't I'm more of a burnout man myself) I'd would be waiting for gt5.
"Oh no it's okay. I can quit whenever I want to."
That's such a false excuse commonly used to defend PD, as if they were the only ones that pay a lot attention to detail and the others just don't. It is just matter of watching some vids and reading interviews, to realize that the guys at Forza are as passionate and meticulous. And the guys at iRacing have demonstrated that the ultimate experience can be achieved without ridiculously long development time.
I do believe that games are an artform but you are kidding yourself if you think Yamauchi doesn't care about money. He has a development staff that he has to take care of.
The topic at hand is that they are saying it could be released at anytime. Why do they continue to delay it if it is ready to go??
And I like to say that you're fucking blind if you can't see that GT5 looks so much better than that other racer game which you're in bed with.
"It seems to me that Forza 2 and 3 combined will probably gross more than 1 GT game."
LMFAO!!! You seriously need to check your facts boy.
As of May 2008:
Gran Turismo racing series has notched up 50 million sales.
Also as of August 2009 Gran Turismo 5 prologue (you know, that demo) has sold 4 million copies...
That puts the GT "demo" at more copies sold than Forza 2, and almost more than the entire Forza franchise...
It helps when you think before you speak...
I know in a time of coprate greed and a crazy killer recession caring about ones product over funds may seem like an lost art, but some people still do.
As far as interviews go anybody can smile for a camera and look passionate ,hell a few of my jobs have required me to do so.
Not that I'm saying their not passionate but speeches are ultimately just a form of PR that I ignore because its a lot easier to be deceptive than most people realize( again not saying they don't care).
As for the rest I couldn't care less about defending PD,but their out to make the ultimate driving experience, and it looks like nothing I've ever seen before (forza included) and that's something I can respect.
@Mirage
I said it took priority, not that it was the sole priority. As for why there delaying it, they feel they can make it better, ultimate, so he continues to work on it. And I say let him, even if he is chasing a pipe dream some of mans greatest creations came to be because someone decided to chase a dream.

Fan boy alert! Fan Boy Alert!
Proceed with caution. Do not look the Fanboy in the eyes, Easily irritated, Possibly mentally unstable.
Alert! Alert! Alert!
I was not attempting to state a fact but merely speculating on the possibility that 2 games would gross more than 1.
Thank you for spending the last couple of hours compiling data to support your fanboyism.
Good luck with your life, boy.
I really hope it doesn't take you a couple hours to do 3 google searches:
"Gran Turismo sales figures"
"Gran Turismo 5 prologue sales figures"
"Forza sales figures"
Not that hard.
And i was just saying that you're an idiot if you think some measly little Microsoft racing game can topple the GT legend that easily... 50 million copies, have you really thought about that number? I bet GT5 sells 8-10 million copies in the first year alone. Quote me on it.
And my life is great, no need to project your own inadequacies onto me because you were wrong.
Wow, you are a total douchebag.
"You will see... GT5 will beat the hell out of any racer on the market and you'll be eating your words Dale. No noobie rewind feature will change that."
Yeah, because adding OPTIONAL features to a game--to make it more enjoyable to more people without watering it down--is a BAD thing. Would you rather they make the next GT so that if you crash your car in-game the disc shatters in the drive and you're never allowed to play it again? Wouldn't that be more in line with your precious "simulation"?
Way to bow out gracefully.. guess you've had enough failing at trying to make sense so now you resort to schoolyard comments... nice one, boy.
@mrandydixon
Your strawman argument has absolutely nothing to do with what I said. Way to jump way off the deep end trying to make a point, but really failing at it because you went just a little too far off the deepend.
I would, however, like to see it to where if you total a car you lose the car from your account. You'd have to rebuy it... that would be more in-line with the simulation aspect. Also you'd have to pay to fix any damages to the track and you could also salvage your car for money based on how many usable parts were left...
Yea, I love my simulations whenever I can't get to the track.
"I bet GT5 sells 8-10 million copies in the first year alone. Quote me on it."
I will.
Considering there have been less than 30 million PS3 units sold worldwide (according to my Google search), one in every three PS3 owners must buy a copy of GT5 in the first year.
You might wanna buy two yourself, just to make sure.
Very good logic... I will give you that. But if anything could ever be called a "system-seller", GT5 would be it...
Just shut the fuck up and get out of this blog.
"Your strawman argument has absolutely nothing to do with what I said. Way to jump way off the deep end trying to make a point, but really failing at it because you went just a little too far off the deepend."
You took issue with the "noobie" rewind feature, which was designed to make the game more accessible and less sim-like for people who'd rather, you know, actually race in their racing game and have a good time with it. So I took issue with the fact that sims aren't necessarily fun for everyone, and a game that combines the best of both worlds and does so nearly flawlessly (if Dale's review is to be believed) is always better in my book.
I have no problem with the way you like to play your games, so why do you have a problem with people who might want to experience things differently?
Yes sir!
"But if anything could ever be called a "system-seller", GT5 would be it..."
I agree completely, and once I've saved up enough for my PS3 I plan on at least renting it if not buying it (same with Forza). I only got into it with you because you attacked the rewind feature, which I wholeheartedly welcome. I enjoy the "sim" aspect of a game as much as the next guy, but sometimes I just wanna get drunk and race around the track, watching the gorgeous scenery fly by. Nothing wrong with that.
They're just jealous of your sweet avatar.
Crack!
I personally avoid forum pissing matches like the plague, however knowing lots of people with alot of dedicated Track Cars "everything from Z06's to F355's" and i'm talking dedicated to the track they have to be trailered there because they are no longer street legal. If you are damaging tracks and totalling cars not only are you a Fanboy but a HOON as well, and you are propably avoided on the track like the plague. And oh yeah just an fyi all of these people use triple screen FORZA 2 setups for there sims "i guess something has to separate the Pro's from the JOE'S. lol
Well, it isn't so much that I have a problem with the way people play their games as I have a problem with loud mouth developers spewing baseless claims against someone so respected as Kaz from PD is. If you don't know, Kaz is huge into the automotive world, he's like a Jay Leno of sorts. They even have a PD reward at Pebble Beach (one of the longest running most respected car shows in the world). T10 talk about how great they are and how sim-ish their game is (and a lot of other fluff), yet they incorporated a feature better suited for Burnout. I really just have an issue with T10 and I can't wait for GT5 to come out and smack the shit out of them.
But on the real... rewind does not belong in a sim. AT ALL. You mess up on the 90th lap of an endurance race? Develop some stamina and learn to maintain for more than a few laps... ya know... get better. Not a "oh well, no biggy, just rewind..."
I rarely hit walls my friend... very rarely. Usually I'll get a tire on the grass during hard breaking and you know what happens from that... I've never hit any hard barrier on a real track either. Only offed twice.
I know how to race my friend... I do it daily. Literally.
Didn't realize people were running tripple screen setups in forza and using a junky plastic wheel... with no clutch... and only a sequential gearbox.
If you like sims, check out a PS3, GT5(prologue), and a Logitech G25/27.
Fanatec is making some nice wheels also if you can get your hands on one.
You have to tell me how do you get into PD's studio, otherwise you are eating the same PR you don't want to eat from Turn 10. I don't even care about making a Forza vs GT argument here, my problem is that I see the same passion in every racing sim developer out there, including PD. And I think all these developers want to create the ultimate driving experience. So far T10 and iRacing are the ones closer to that goal, in my humble opinion.
I don't know anything about PD or turn 10 for that matter, I'm simply going off what I saw of the games nothing more.
Calm the fudge down JDigital, you will get your GT Fix at some point Im sure. Just not for a while.
I'll proably have Forza 4 by then.
And you dont need to USE the rewind, its like the other assists, just turn them off. Why dont you give Forza a chance? Or do you own all the consoles and just dont like Forza?
I have played Forza 2 a few times at a friends house and there was always something about it. The physics always seem off.. like taking a long sweeper in a mid engine car and then popping off the throttle produced no lift-off oversteer or anything... then I remember flooring a rwd car through a turn at full lock and nothing happened...
I don't have enough hours at it to say 100% for sure that it sucks, but that was the impression I got from it. Granted I have a full race rig at my place so playing with a controller somewhere else will never work for me. But what I did see if the physics were so wrong that I don't think it is much of a stretch to say that it would prolly be even worse if I spent more time with it.
JDigital, man, calm the fuck down. 8 aggressive posts. You could have even made some valid points there, but everything was oozing with hate, pain, anger and self-fellatio and it made me barely pay any attention.
I love GT5 and I hope it comes out better than Forza 3(although I kinda doubt it) because I own a PS3 and have been red-ringed. However, this is no reason to undermine the wonderful work T10 have done, and I'm pissing myself looking forward to playing this at anyone's house. With that said, one thing is stating your preferences and beliefs. Another entirely different is trying to shove it down everyone's throats.
This is a civillized blog, last I was informed. Try and keep it that way. Thank you.
Fanatec is making some nice wheels also if you can get your hands on one."
Or check out the real sims that are out for the pc
