GRIN to give Wanted the videogame treatment photo

Wanted was a fun summer action flick, but how will it fair as a videogame? Movie-based games have always had a horrendous track record, but there's a chance this one might turn out to be somewhat decent.

The Wanted game is being developed by GRIN, the company responsible for the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter series and the unreleased Bionic Commando. Executive game producer Pete Wanat, who worked on Escape from Butcher Bay, will also be a part of the project.

As you can see from the attached image, Wanted will be a third-person shooter, and just like in the film, you'll be able to curve bullets and slow down time. Additionally, the game won't just be a retelling of the movie; it actually picks up right where the film left off.

What do you think, is this game going to stand a chance?

I'd be excited if it followed the graphic novel's dark plot, and not the movie's lighthearted antihero-ness.

@jynxshot-

oh god yes. Comic book had suuuuch a better plot. And cooler characters.

Still enjoyed the movie, though.

If it is strictly based on the comic (movie) it will suck. If it is based on the premise with lots of other stuff written in it would be really cool. Although you'd basically just be a bad ass super villain.

Like has already been said, would be better if it followed the Comic Book. Certainly would be a chance to see some good boss fights considering you'd be taking on super powered beings and not just other people with guns/knives.

The game could work, but I hope there would be the element of being able to be good or evil in what you do as well as an open world for gameplay. Nothing like being given a hit and being able to take them out from many directions rather than "kill person while riding the train, that's all." Bullet curving sounds really lame, though. Pretty much just a tarted up targeting/cover system if you ask me.

Sweet! I was thinking the other day we need another Max Payne game, but this will do nicely if they pull it off. Can't wait!

Could be cool. The movie was already like a video game in a lot of ways.

then yes, it will be fun.

Less basing it off the movie, more basing it off the comic please.

I've been disappointed with the last two incarnations of Wanted, I don't see why a third should be any different. But, then again, they've been less disappointing as they went on, maybe the game will be halfway decent.

Although I understand the movie bastardized the source material, there's no denying that the movie was a fun action flick. It certainly has potential to offer the same type of fun over-the-top action in a game.

I like the fact it will take place after the movie, too. If they're smart maybe the game will be the segue way between the first movie and the announced sequel. That'd kinda be cool.
