Grand Theft Auto IV to PC confirmed photo

According to the front Malaysia’s “premier gaming mag” PC Gamer, Grand Theft Auto IV is coming to the PC. As we aren’t in Malaysia, when the misadventures of Niko Bellic and company will be invading your rig is unknown. Above is my artist rendition of the magazine cover that we caught a glimpse of at Overclock.

SInce we have no clue as to what is exactly coming with the package, it’s time for gross speculation. My guess is that it will just be a direct port of the Xbox 360 version, with the same stipulations that Rockstar has with Microsoft in tow. That means, probably, no downloadable content until the exclusive agreement ends with Microsoft. Regardless of content, I wonder if Rockstar will open up some development tools this time around? Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has quite the community still surrounding it.

Are there any PC players smacking their lips right now? I’ve never had the pleasure of playing GTA on a PC for any extended period of time, so I don’t know if this version of GTA IV would be preferable to the crowd with machines that can actually run a new game. With this announcement behind us, maybe the next one will be about a Macintosh version that consists of web-based content and pre-1990s graphics that I can play. We’ll keep you posted when another foreign magazine puts that information up.

Like we didn't see this coming. Too bad I was never a big fan of GTA anyway.

At least for last generation's GTAs, the PC ports were amazingly better than consoles, and it only got better as the iterations went on. GTA: SA felt and had all the features of a native PC exclusive game, with its only flaw being the flying controls (I don't know why it's so hard for Rockstar to impliment those considering a bunch of other studios have managed to stick them on a keyboard and mouse like DICE and Microsoft and me with some tinkering with the settings just fine).
I wanna hear this from the REAL PC Gamer mag, the brit one, though.

Fuck yeah! The modding community always comes through with this game. Hopefully the default textures are improved, though...

Awesome news! Looks like I'll just wait even longer to upgrade my computer - so when I build it, it'll be able to play this well!

The only real reason to buy GTA for the PC has always been Mods.

The PC versions of the 3D GTA games have been pretty awesome. Maybe the helicopters were a little weird, but the combat is miles beyond.

I have never played GTA consoles, but videoes of shooting with that targeting system, I'm just saying that I love my PC version. I never knew that GTA had a shooting/targeting problem until months ago, the PC version is without a targeting system and it works perfect.

Well since my PC could probably run it and I don't have a 360 or PS3 yet, it's money ain't it, I'm happy about this.

This is what I've been waiting for. Me and a million others.

Unfortunately, only 20 000 of them will actually 'buy' the game.

GTA4 console exclusivity was actually a selling point for me to get a 360. I had also planned to upgrade my PC down the road the play FPS's (im horrid at the dual joystick), but now I might just wait till the PC version comes out and skip the 360. Decisions, decisions.

They do a good job with the pc ports. But even if they didnt, i have a gamepad; the real reason i want this on pc is messing with the config files!

You havent lived until youve driven a crappy car at 500mph and hit a bump and gone flying...
If anyone still plays SA, make a car really fast and drive it east on your airstrip, straight into the hills. Its an awesome jump for stunts.

After all the hype and everything I have kinda lost interest. I was looking forward to it on PC, oh well maybe I still will if there is a Metal Gear mod or Back to the Future.

I've been playing GTAIII again, this time on PC instead of PS2. Honestly, it's been on of the most relaxing games I've ever played. When it's 1AM and it's a choice between running over civilians and listening to the radio or shooting armies of hellspawn, GTA wins hands down.

Plus I can import my own songs into a special radio station on the PC version. Awesome! Basically, I can't wait for GTA IV PC.
