Grand Theft Auto IV DLC sorta delayed

5:40 PM on 06.05.2008, Nick Chester 31 comments

     Take-Two

During a financial results call today, Take-Two Interactive revealed a not-too-shocking truth -- Xbox 360-exclusive downloadable content for Grand Theft Auto IV won't be available until the company's 2009 fiscal year. In English, what that means is that the DLC could be available anywhere between November 1, 2008, and January 31, 2009.

It may pain you to know that the much-hyped pieces of DLC could possibly already be complete; Take-Two says the delay is only "in order to provide a better balance in Take-Two's release schedule." Or at least that's what they want us to believe. The content was originally scheduled to hit before November 1.

Considering I'm still not more than 46% through the content that shipped on the disc, I'm not losing any sleep over this delay. It would, however, make a ton of sense to offer up another GTA IV SKU in late November (gift buying season, baby!) that contained the content. Nothing says "dollar signs" like some fresh new packaging for the holidays.

I'm at 80% and on the last mission. I tried it once before work and I fully intend on beating it when I get home. This delay still doesn't affect me much. I've got plenty of games to play until the content comes out.

I could care less, I figure by the time I finally beat the game I'll be somewhat burned out on it anyways. A little break will just make the DLC that much sweeter.

IF anyone from Rockstar reads this PM me as to where to send the check... =P

Im not surprised this is delayed, I mean, after-all they're actually protecting everyone by delaying this....

ITS A MURDER SIMULATOR!

Man that's pretty far away. I don't really plan on trading it in until GTA5 comes out though so I guess it doesn't matter. But I know I'll totally be done with everything else in the game by then.

Haha, they delayed it so they could add all the content that's in the new Saints Row 2 video.

Disappointment. However SnakeDude4Life that is a great idea (but not enough to be the entire DLC of course).

Well, I hope that's not all.

I still want a zombie mode/cheat (pedestrians become zombies), tanks, The Flamethrower, snow mobiles, Camo jacket and pants, more radio/TV programs, open up the arcade in china town.

Give me a job Rockstar.

Eh, I'm not far at all. I feel like I spent more time playing Qub3d last night than actually doing missions. I guess I'll take this when it comes.

If they add more toys to the game, fix the overly needy friends and make a much more interesting story with more interesting missions.

Then I'm all for it.

But if at least 2 of those issues aren't addressed, then R* can suck a fuck.

Question is will you still be interested enough in GTA4 at that time to buy the DLC, or will you have moved on to something else?

I could use some DLC. Already plowed through the story twice, and currently looking for those damn pigeons. Lately I've just been calling up Packie, getting a car bomb and looking for someone to explode. This WILL give me some time to maybe get back into COD online, or possibly get back into "The world ends with you"

that's the only real question left to wonder. the multiplayer aspect of GTAIV is a joke, to put it bluntly and once you finish the story there's no way the majority of owners are going to stick around for an additional half-year with so many other alternatives. Major Nelson's most recent "top 10" has already confirmed this.

frankly, considering what MS paid Take-Two to secure the exclusive DLC I'd be pretty pissed off. Not me personally, i don't care about GTA enough, but i mean MS. No one will ever know how much was paid to secure said exclusivity but one thing we can all agree on is that MS probably didn't appreciate hearing about it's delay until "early" (whenever that is) next year.

Yeah I've got more then enough to play for now... if they release it too early less people will buy it I think, the more people finish the game, the more people are gonna want it :-)

Huh... I think the multiplayer is great. It could use about 50 more mission modes though. :-)

I'll vote for a zombie survival mode.
