While touting its "strongest-ever" game line-up at the Leipzig Games Convention, Microsoft dropped some details on the Grand Theft Auto IV DLC that we know so very little about.
"In autumn there will be news from Liberty City; the first episodes of GTA IV will be available for download exclusively on Xbox LIVE, underlining Xbox 360’s leadership role in the field of digital entertainment."
There you have it, folks. The downloadable content is finally coming. But is it too late? I can't be the only one who's moved on after completing GTA IV's sizable story mode and spending more than enough time jumping out of helicopters during multiplayer.
Whatever the DLC is, it's going to have to be pretty damn enticing to get me to come back to Liberty City. Hit the jump for the press release from which this tidbit of news comes.

Digital Entertainment For Your Home
In addition to the best games of the season, Xbox 360 offers digital entertainment for everyone. The Xbox LIVE Video Store is expanding. At E3 in Los Angeles it was announced that Constantin Films is now an official partner of the Xbox LIVE Video Store in Germany. For German fans this means that besides international blockbusters, German productions in HD quality are available for the whole family. With a library full of films from the world’s biggest Hollywood studios ready to download, Xbox 360 is the centre of digital entertainment in the home.
Here's hoping they add more multiplayer modes and clean it up a bit, since that's the only way to really keep people playing the game in the long term.
I play GTA4 from time to time in Free mode. Howver, I only play with friends, not those annoying 12 year olds who say Ni**er after every word. It's kinda like a violent version of Home for me. So, yes, this is still relevant to my interests.
I'll consider spending the money when I know just what the fuck I'm spending money on. I'm not going to run out and blow 1600 points on some expanded deathmatch BS.
New weapons, clothes, vehicles, missions, areas... any of those are relevant to my interests.
Also I love how that screenshot makes the radar and the game screen identical. Reminds me of the ending to Crank.
Eh, I don't really care anymore. It's clear the reviewers only played about 20 hours before writing their reviews because they all orgasmed over the MOVIE QUALITY STORYLINE!!11! when it got boring just before the halfway point. Still a great game, but it has almost no replay value when your money is worthless and there's nothing to do. They went for realism and it hurt it. I want a hanger in the desert with a WWII plane, a harrier, and a jetpack. I want to buy property and things that actually do something. Vice City is my favorite, but nothing can beat San Andreas' replay value. Even the cheat codes in GTAIV are boring as hell. Where's the pedestrian riot code?
I care. I loved the car chases and I've been looking for more. I still pop it in and try to have the most epic cop chases I can get.
Plus, I'm interested in these characters. At least far more than I ever cared for the anime characters in any of the Final Fantasy games I've played (with the exception of Tactics.)
Maybe they'll fix the steering, add throat slitting and make the cops less likely to notice you. But I doubt it. Oh and get rid of the fucking dating shit. I want to kill people not date my brother.
AFAICS, the only people complaining about the driving physics are 12 year olds who's only exposure to driving has been NFS games... It's a big improvement on past versions, as it rewards skilfull driving.
DLC *has* to be missions, and it has to add another 250 achievement points or - I'm out.
Can't see how it can be vehicles, guns etc (please god, let it be cheat codes) because multiplayer base would fracture unacceptably. Which is a shame, because realism is good but only so far - where's my frickin' garages, harriers and parachute? Imagine a multiplayer San Andreas vs what we have now.
I think the DLC will be worth it for some more dialogue, but it might be along the lines of: "Its me Dwayne, if you want some moneyz I have some package for you to deliver and get shot at for no reasons."
