I saw this linked on another gaming forum, and the misogynistic condemnation it got there made me feel like I had to donate, just to spite the assholes.
This better show that there are also strong female main characters,and arnt just sterotypical large breasted women who need saving...
You ever notice it's primarily men that talk about this subject? Most women don't really fucking care. I guarantee in this comment section it's gonna be about 95% men. Men are troped just as easily as women.

Yes, any discussion about feminism is largely moot, when equality exists where permitted by both genders. You ladies upset about being commodified? Stop commodifying yourselves (booth harlots, for example). Wear makeup? That's just another means of manipulation and deception. Plunging necklines? Objectifying yourselves more than men do.
Mostly, however, it's that there's absolutely no conversation about how anything remotely "feminist" is generally a thinly veiled excuse for misandry.

Sexism is usually to do with more subtle, personal and professional unfairness.
To me, instances of sexist imagery in entertainment is an overblown issue. They seem to happen more when TV shows and games have lazy writing. Male characters being portrayed lazily happens at the same time as well.

A lot of you don't seem to realize that male gender issues don't negate female gender issues. Lets be honest, you just don't want there to be a discussion on feminism. There's a conversation to have about men's portrayal in media, but it doesn't cancel out any discussion on female portrayals in media. If this were truly that big of an issue for you or men in general you'd spark up a discussion in the c-blogs about it. You'd find your own cause not try to end another's. You won't do that because this argument only arises when men want to quell any dialogue on the topic of feminism. This Men's Rights crap never rises above blatant misogyny because there's no real cause to fight. Also, quite frankly, I doubt anyone with a significant female presence in his life thinks all the women of the world are out to get him and cut his balls off. I don't even identify myself as a feminist, but this anti-intellectual bull that crops up whenever people disagree annoys the heck out of me.

Dumb project, there's nothing wrong with characters like Lara Croft, Bayonetta, Princess Peach, Zelda, and the others. The only problem here are feminist perceptions of these characters.

That does not in any way diminish women-centric issues of portrayal, nor does it necessitate bringing it up as some sort of illogical..defense? Is that what it is? Newsflash! No one saying there are not problems with how men are portrayed in pop culture! No one is saying that isn't ALSO A BAD THING! That's just not what we're talking about at the present moment!
This project isn't terrible isn't a terrible thing for addressing one issue and not another. Find another avenue for your soapbox. If it's that much of a problem for you, make your own website/blog/Kickstarter project criticizing bad/offensive male tropes in popular culture. Don't attack this for addressing a legitimate issue, just not the one you want to see addressed.

Spoiler Warning: Feminist Frequency is full of shit. I've tried to engage in debate with her regarding her views, particularly in her perceived "war on women" in the media, to have her ignore any attempts at dialogue.
I think the 'men have it hard too' arguers aren't trying to say women don't have more problems. Simply saying that, as opposed to what a good portion of the 'vocal' feminists say, that men aren't precisely perfectly happy with the way we get shown either.

I think Steven (and kidplus) are right on. Can there be a "side" that finds media portrayals of men AND women problematic? That thinks that they hurt people across the gender spectrum in various ways? The fact that this woman wants to critically examine such portrayals of women shouldn't threaten you. It doesn't preclude you pointing out the problems with portrayals of men, if that's what you want to do. I think @BrainWasherAttendent raises an interesting point about the association of men with violence, and I would like to hear more!

I've watched feminist frequency before and i'm not aligned with her type of feminism.She leans more towards Andrea Dworkins' feminism and that's something i can't agree with.That said, i do agree that women are objectified heavily in video games.It's hard to think of a video game that lets you wear full armor that cover the body for females without revealing less clothing the higher the armor progression goes, or putting women in high heels on the battlefield.Dark Souls passes this test, i guess that's one of the many reason i love DkS.( I just love dkS in general god the game is soo good.)
