An unnamed source from the house that Kutargi built was kind enough to grace our tip line today with news that Sony has updated their Gran Turismo site to include all the latest information on the highly anticipated title, including the soon to be released game, GT5 Prologue.
Hamza filled you in many of the details of the game a couple of weeks ago, so I'm not going to rehash what you already know. However, the revamped site is worth a gander, and you can expect to find the usual GT gems like news, art, trailers, and other cool things such as wallpapers and even a place for you forumites to talk about how you could've done it all better -- and for less money.
I'm still leaning towards holding out for the full-release of GT5, but I have to say -- the site is snazzy -- and from what we've seen, Prologue seems to be very much a completed game within itself. With over 60 cars to choose from, and the promise of 16-man multiplayer racing, it's becoming mighty tempting to download that baby in April, myself.
The reasons for not picking this up are minimal.
Come on guys, this isn't Star Wars...
a 40 dollar preview/demo?
This isn't GT5?
Somebody explain this to me like somebody explained to me the FF numbering system.
Gran Turismo 5 is one of the games that makes me seriously consider dropping the $600 to buy a PS3.
@qwerty: GT 5 Prologue has four tracks, including the Eiger Nordwand track that was in the Gran Turismo HD Concept PSN demo.
@that1dood: I don’t know why people keep saying $600. The price of a PS3 hasn’t been above $500 since October 18, 2007.
You too Gameboi. I know you'll pick this up.
The Damage model is confirmed for the full release and really ..we are talking about Polyphony Digital. They are going to take their sweet time releasing the full version.
How rich/stupid are you?
Who needs accuracy when you can drive Jay Leno's car!
I'm content with my Forza 2, I whole-heartedly doubt that I'll get anything new from this. GT4 was far from impressive to me, they're gonna have to pull a rabbit out of their ass to give me some fun with this game.
Honestly, I don't like this one bit of purchasing 40$ for half the game now, then 60$ for when it is fully released. Now, if they give me a discount on the full version when it comes out or some bonus crap I can use, then may be I wont fret so much.
But alas, it is a choice, you dont NEED to get this version if you prefer to wait till the full version. I will wait for my friends get it n play it first before getting it.
Ask yourself why they didn't release a smaller demo on the PSN instead? exactly.
As for the GT vs Forza argument, the Forza online community is phenomenal. That's something you can't buy. Honestly I don't know why you would bother getting this game if you already have Forza 2.
Actually, from my understanding, you have to.
And even though I agree that it's a demo of the real thing, but you pay almost as much, it's still a fully functional piece of software.
But if it's true what Y0j1mb0 says, this is perhaps the last thing we'll see of GT in a few years. I mean really, make that perhaps another 2-3 years. It took them 4 years to get this done, think how long it will take for a couple of hundred cars with full damage model that both include cosmetic damage done to the modeled car and a damage simulator to keep track of the cars behavior when damaged.
