The arstechnica video of the collision avoidance makes PD look like ass hats.
I'm having a lot of fun with GT5 and i just purchased my GTR specv as well.
That was an unfair test however.
It was a BMW driver that didn't care about the other car in its way.
That's working as intended.
It looks like Polyphony didn't set the car's physics modifier to only work ON the grass and instead it elevates ABOVE the grass. Small bug, but with a big effect.
if 10/10 implies that the game is the pincale of excellence then what would the score have been if the AI was great and the crashes actually were flawlessly realistic? 10/10 again?
Not to...you know, be the one to say this but...what the hell HAVE they been doing for 6 years? Did they just take the old GT, polish the hell out of that turd, then add more cars?

Its no wonder then that the NASCAR sim isn't full-on, because then they really would have to include some real crash physics.
otherwise if someone's really asking them to pull reviews, that would be a bit of a PR blow
Just saying.
8.4 is hardly a bad score. Perhaps it's because so many reviews were incomplete, with many reporting erroneously that there is no car damage in GT5.
I never said 8.4 was bad.
and car damage isn't just one of the minus points in the less than perfect scores given by some reviews. No need to get so defensive everytime someone talks a tad negatively about Sony and its games ya know.

Car damage is available from the beginning. Then again, i haven't reach that level yet
I might have some gripes with GT5, but the damage isn't one of them. There isn't a single sim racer that does it perfectly. Even the damage in Grid (which is the racing sim that does it best in my opinion) is far from perfect.
Even DKR? Thank fucking god for that.
And no one said not to enjoy their games here ^___^
now now. That's not fair. You can't say a nary word of negativity on GT5 or i'm calling you a troll. Its not PD's fault, the reviews were incomplete. And you don't crash in races, especially in GT5, you're doing it wrong.
I'm not sure what you mean. I wasn't being defensive at all, I just found it unlikely Sony would complain about an 8.4 score. I actually believe Metacritic worked the way it should, this time, with a cumulative score that is probably about right.
Personally, visible damage means nothing to me. Actual mechanical damage is what I'm interested in, provided that it's somewhat forgiving of minor bumps. I'm hopeful about that patch.
