Gran Turismo 5 may work with PS3 Move photo

Motion controls are coming and there is nothing you can do about it. They're coming to your favorite games too, not just new ones. With the new PlayStation Move site up and running we can check out which games will feature Move controls. Nothing much surprising there under the featured game list... wait, is that Gran Turismo 5? Well, that's interesting to say the least. Could Move work with GT5?

Now, it should be kept in mind that this is simply under a listing of featured games on the site, so it may be that Sony is just randomly listing Gran Turismo 5 as a cool game for the PS3. However, looking over the rest of the featured games on the page, which include SOCOM 4, Move Party! and Sports Champions, they have all been confirmed as Move compatible except for Split Second and ModNation -- two other racing games that could easily have motion controls. The fact is this confirms nothing, but offers up plenty of speculation.

Considering that motion controls have really only been proven with kart and arcade racers this is an interesting find. It's even more interesting when you consider the fact that Move doesn't really lend itself to well to being turned sideways and pushed into a plastic steering wheel. Would we be using both the Move and its sub controller to drive or simply grabbing the light bulb end and steering that way? Would the latter even work considering the light is what the PlayStation Eye picks up on?

Even more importantly, do Gran Turismo fans even want this? I can hardly believe it would add to the realism of the racing no matter how 1:1 the controls are. Do you want waggle with your Gran Turismo?

I haven't had a chance to get my hands on the tech, so I can't say for sure just yet, but personally, I don't think any of the current and upcoming motion control solutions are responsive enough for a racing game. Split second alterations are necessary, and the tiniest bit of lag from the gamer's input to the output in the game can spell the difference between cutting a corner perfectly and careening into the outer wall. We'll see, I guess.

DO NOT WANT

Next they'll start introducing unskippable cut-scenes and quicktime events...

From the looks of it they've done a really nice job fitting Move controls into Socom, i'm personally hopeful for the GT Move support.

Remember guys, it's not going to be mandatory! If you don't like it, just use a fucking controller?!?!

Wasn't Gran Turismo 5 supposed to come out like 9 years ago?

racing games are quite possibly the only thing that interests me less than motion controls.

There already is a "Wii wheel" attachment for the DualShock 3.

wouldn't you want to buy a steering wheel accessory instead of the using this?

Only fools would think this would be a great idea. Examples: x1251 and Patriot Snake.

I think Yamauchi and Polyphony Digital have earned our trust at this point. The GT games are at the forefront of racing games, if you're into that kind of thing. If they put waggle in GT5, I have faith that they'll do it right, or scrap it if it can't be done in a way that meets their standards.

Honestly, I don't think it's motion controls that most of us hate anyway. What we hate is all the shovelware that goes along with it. The GT series is most certainly not shovelware, so we can probably all relax.

Move is not just the wand, guys.
They have already stated in the past that at PD they've been working to integrate head-tracking in GT5, ie tracking the position of your head via the PS camera to change the view perspective accordingly.
Read the reports about the developers conference on move, and you'll find there official confirmation that the SDK includes head-tracking and face analyzing libraries.

I would fucking love it... if they had pedals too. Just the actual wandy things doesn't bode well for a game based entirely on realism and stuff. With a big-budget title like GT5, I really doubt that they'd screw up the implementation of the tech, I just think it might not be fantastic to use.

Will stick to the standard Sixaxis for now.

Don't see the point. Maybe fore a Kart racer, but not a sim.

After so much stalling on getting GT5 out, if this was another reason for the delay that's pretty lame. Then again, based off how half-assed GT Portable was, I can't get my hopes up about the PS3 version.

I hope they don't do the head tracking exclusively with Move. Playstation Eye alone is capable for this alone but they may do stupid things trying to promote Move.

I love the fact that the sony move controllers will probably be released before gran tourismo 5. lol. Anyways, when the game finally comes out, I will be using my steering wheel to play. Its driving after all.

Honestly, I don't see how it could work. That being said, I agree with Brian Slaughter; I can't see Yamauchi putting it in the game unless he can do it right. And with a 5+ year dev time, obviously Sony gives them a decent amount of autonomy...

I agree with Patriot. If they become required, then complain. But I'm sick of people complaining about things that are OPTIONAL.

As for the story, well... The game's going to be in 3D, so why not motion controls?

I've lost interest in this game. It can never live up to expectations at this point. Motion controls or not.

No, this does not mean that GT5 may work with the PS3 move. Go to the PS3 accessories page. http://us.playstation.com/ps3/accessories/index.htm

Now click on any accessory. You'll find that the exact same games listed under the PS3 Move page are listed under EVERY accessory.

Gran Turismo 5 to work with SingStar microphones confirmed!!!

Come on guys, you're mistaking a cross-sell app for something that it is not.

sure why not, the more support to the hardcore games the more fun for everyone. Im getting the move no matter what. Will have Gran Turismo with my baby.

FD RX-7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

also btw, yall can't stop whining because like many have said on this blog, this is optional. No reason to complain, no one is forcing you to use the Move, is purely optional.

Even if you don't like it, 5-15 year olds who enjoy Wii like movements can finally enjoy HD Wii movement lol.

Would this be cheaper than a logictec steering wheel if so this investment in a Playstation Move could be worthwhile.

even so I love the idea of "Move" on the PS3 I'm very intrested in the games that will come out in the future and hopefully I won't have to buy a wii again I can just stick to one console.

If you don't like it, then use the Dualshock 3. Only people like you who think it's necessary *but it's not* is a fool.

I didn't like the motion control in Mario Kart and that game was tuned specifically for it. I think this will be a fail.
