[Update: The PlayStation Blog has detailed the game updates, and now we see the reason for the size of the patch -- it adds a ton to the game. Check out the details here.]
There's nothing like popping on your game system, throwing in your favorite game and then waiting. Waiting. F*cking waiting. Just keep telling yourself that this particular patch is worth the wait. It is.
With that out of the way, know that there's a 608mb patch for Gran Turismo 5 today. While I hate waiting, there seems to be some good stuff in this big bundle. NeoGAF has a thread on this patch 1.05 where they list some of what appears to have been fixed/changed in the update. Here's some of the highlights:
- Online collector car dealerships
- Online seasonal events
- save backup/copy
- totally HUDless racing
- offline damage
- rewinding in replay mode
- custom music for menus
Very nice. I almost feel bad for complaining about the wait. Even more reports are coming in about some of the changes. I'm going to dig into this update. We'll update you when we hear more of what has been changed.
At E3 this afternoon I had the pleasure of chatting with Polyphony Digital president Kazunori Yamauchi about his upcoming PS3 game, Gran Turismo 6. He also teased what might be coming up next, but made it clear that we're getting ahead of ourselves when talking about PS4 Gran Turismo titles.

It may not have been the PlayStation 4 launch game I was hoping for, but it's never really a bad time for more Gran Turismo.

I shrugged off the first rumors of Gran Turismo 6 earlier this year. I am still mostly in that mindset, though I feel obligated to point out some of the recent rumblings now.
