I never played any more than the shareware release, but god damn was it good. Might have to pick this up!
As someone who grew up on both console and pc gaming in the 80's and 90's, yes, Rise of the Triad is stupidly fun. What made the game for me was besides being excessively violent, it also kinda poked fun and made fun of the FPS genre in general. It was a real treat to play back in the day and with a new game coming out, I hope it can capture the charm of the original.
I just bought it and I don't know if it's any good but I like Duke Nukem 3D a LOT so this should be good too.

I remember the hype for this game before it even came out, then it and Heretic came out around the same time. Those games were mind-blowing at the time.
This game is awesome. It's very gory, if you shoot a guy and aim the gun he'll drop to his knees and beg for his life, where you promptly shoot him dead execution style. You can get a the Excalibat which is a baseball bat that fires flaming baseballs, you can turn into a dog and attac guys or do a super scream which blows them up. This game is insane! I had it back in the day but lost it long go so $2.39 is an amazing price, plus it has bonus levels!
