Destructoid has received several emails from Gotham City Impostors players, letting us know that a significant number of player profiles keep getting reset by a bug. Even worse, if a victim bought any downloadable content, it'll no longer associated with their account, so the money's been lost.
This issue seems to be affecting both Xbox 360 and PS3 users. The issue was allegedly noted in the beta, but it hasn't been fixed if it's still happening.
The game's official message board currently has a 56-page thread on the issue, to which the community manager has responded. He's confirmed there is an issue that Monolith is working on, but hasn't said much more beyond that. That was several days ago though, and no further response has been had from official quarters.
We recently contact Warner Bros. on the issue, but haven't heard anything back yet. As soon as we do, we'll let you know what's up, because if players run the risk of having their time and money wasted, that's something that shouldn't be kept quiet. Seriously.
The Destructoid review of Gotham City Impostors will be out later this week.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I mean if it were a good game and that happened that would be horrible.
But the fact that the game is shit and it resets your account, thats like a double kick to the balls.
Hopefully the people who lost sweet sweet skrilla because of this ridiculousness get what's owed to them. Or, failing that, gloves with which to demand satisfaction.
1) LOG IN TO STEAM
2) LAUNCH GAME
3) LOG IN TO WINDOWS LIVE
4) ENTER THE 12 DIGIT CD KEY
5) CREATE A FUCKING WARNER ID
6) TYPE IN CAPS ALL THE FUCKING TIME FROM NOW ON!
7) Congratulations, you can now play.
OROROROROR go to your download history and redownload your stuff.
But...what do I know, i only /bought/ the game.
I enjoyed the demobeta thing and had considered picking this up.
Although, come to think of it, maybe it's not a bug at all. People have been comparing this game to a F2P model. Maybe you never really owned that cool bat cape you spent 3 dollars on, you just rented it. Serves you right for buying cosmetic upgrades to a game.
Could you imagine opening TF2 and finding all of your items missing? Or spending the 20 bucks (or is it 15?) on this game only to never be able to connect to a match? Or if the online pass you paid for/came with your new game required you to pay for it again because of a glitch? Of course, all those EULAs abdicate responsibility of the publisher to ensure that your product actually works. Cause its not a product. It's a "service."
I HATED BATMAN ARKHAM CITY FOR DOING THOSE EXACT THINGS THAT YOU MENTIONED ABOVE ALL IN CAPS.
I now have a windows live account so I can play and SAVE a game that I bought, fuck that noise MS.
It's been like that for a while. Longer, for people with PC game experience.
It's even why some people were wary of making consoles that allowed game patching, because it increased the odds that developers would get lazy or careless knowing that they could release patches.
Usually, they are faster when it's about piracy.
Anyways,I'm hoping my stats don't get reset. 4.0 K/D and I have all my classes pretty much perfected :(
Provide DLC AFTER you have assured that the game you've made doesn't have significant faults.
@arkane9 its not true dlc you just pay to unlock stuff instead of playing to unlock it in an hour, its kinda a genius marketing technique but sickens me to see how lazy gamers are.
I wish it would have reset in the beta, you could only get to lvl 25 and get enough to unlock like 4 guns and like 2 equipments.
I also don't understand why the beta didn't have team deathmatch so we had to play objectives, and now that we have team deathmatch I can't get a game of fumigation.
Too bad companies making the consoles don't have the balls to punish publishers for releasing obviously broken games.
