Our first look at the latest from the Soldier of Fortune series shows us exactly what you would expect from it. Tons of blood and limbs flying all over the place! From this first video, I'd have to say it's looking some what good. The graphics look good and the guns look great. To bad the enemy A.I. looks to be completely retarded.
I remember the first time I played this series. First thing I did was blow a guy's arm off with a shotgun. I was so fascinated by this, that I kept shooting his corpse to see what else would fly off. I think I spent a good ten minutes just screwing around with the physics of the game on this one dead guy. I was 14-years-old at the time. SEE JACK THOMPSON, VIDEOGAMES DIDN'T MAKE ME VIOLENT OR CRAZY!
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

They don't like Manhunt 2 because its sadistic...apparently being in a war where you'll have weaponry far superior to your opponents isn't considered sadistic though..go figure
Is anyone else unimpressed? It's violent for the sake of violence... if the game itself doesn't do anything else new, then I could care less. Flying body parts have been around since explosive firearms in video games.
HAY LOOK IT'S A SHINY DESATURATED GAME WHERE YOU SHOOT GUYZ!
Seriously, I don't know how they managed to make a jungle look so bland. And the enemies are brilliantly charging straight at you with their RANGED WEAPONS, whilst you walk through a ladder.
I am Satorious. It seems like they are making the game have over the top violence and gore to cover up some very mediocre gameplay. Like people will buy it for the gore even though the game sucks.
"Let's see, our shooter is rather generic and run of the mill. What can we do to make it more interesting? How about unnecessary, unrealistic limb removal? Brilliant!"
Ok guys, over the top gore is the basis of this series, now on its 3rd installment. The gameplay was always generic, the graphics always avaerage, but the gore was awesome. Same deal here. Nothing to get upset about. Move along.
I've got to admit, the violence-level does seem a bit over the top.
Having said that, if the multiplayer is good, I might very well pick this up. I recall really enjoying the multiplayer in SoF II; I don't think I ever even played the single-player game.
When I think of next gen gore, I think Dead Island. Soldier of Fortune 3 will have to work harder than THAT to impress me. Unreal 1 had that level of gore.
I just don't see anything that amazing. I mean, I'd probably have fun for an hour experimenting with the various ways of killing people in brutal ways, but after that it doesn't look like there's much else. Then again, maybe the multiplayer will be it's saving grace.
Hi, I can pretty much guarantee that I've played the most SoF2 in here, but it took me like a year or two before even trying the singleplayer which was a journey (lasting a grand total of 10 minutes or so) ending up only in the complete understanding of why that game never became huge. I might not have even tried the multiplayer if the first thing I played - the beta/demo - was singleplayer.
This video looks kind of the same... I think that, unless they mess something up worse than in SoF2 and if there is an equal or better antilag code + good anticheat support (god help them if the SoF2 cheat programmers move on...) it could be great fun as it really looks like a true sequel in the same vein with just hotter graphics and, I assume, some new stuff.
Assuming we'll get it for PC (I admit, I haven't followed this very closely) I just wish they'd (as in; almost every trailer of any FPS game ever) **** off with playing like skilless idiots not in the slightest showcasing how cool the game will look if you play with any in-game awareness, clever moves and good (as in visually pleasing - therefore also fairly accurate) aim. I'm starting a new sentence here when mentioning the obvious joypad movement/aiming because I don't at all want to insult anyone thinking I'm calling them skilles idiots, but almost any decent keyboard and mouse player cringes when seeing how stiff and slow it makes the game look regardless of how it will actually play. That said, I repeat that almost every trailer is played too sub-optimally to make the games look fun, regardless of controller type. I actually jokingly suggested to my friends that there should be an actual job where some one plays games for companies in a way that gives them good material to make trailers off. Not "perfect" playing, not snappy optimal aiming, never getting hit or too fast for unfamiliar players to keep up with what's happening, but just not horrible making the game look slow and dumb like f.e. this.

I did the exact same thing buddy, the exact same thing. Solider of Fortune was where gore games should be aiming at.
The first two were horrible.... I've no problem with gore, but I don't really want to walk around as a Texan asshole maiming anyone who looks vaguely unaryan....
Looks stupid, looks like its been made for psycotic AADD retards. Hur hur look at his arms fly off hur hur. This game is obvioulsy wank and has to make up for that with rediculous gore, nevermind the crap gameplay LOOK AT ALL THE BLOOD!, YOU CAN SHOOT HIS HEAD OFF!. Its just pointless. Just makes me sad for the industry because this will just be another game to be held up as 'Proof' that games are "evil and destroyng our childrens minds", re: Jack Thomson etc.
This would be an awesome game to play while drunk*. Imagine how much it would mess with your mind, seeing men explode in a bloody mess after 2 shots in the torso from a pistol, as you wonder what the hell is wrong with your gun. It would be one big, long drunken "huh?"** (Plus, If the A.I. looks like they've just stumbled out of a pub, you might as well even the odds to make thing fair).
loved the SOF series, i just hope my rig will be able to run this new one. i'm sick of every new game requiring a new expensive upgrade to your pc to run it..
Anyone who played the games knows that SP is nothing compared to online. I played that a lot and I can barely stand multiplayer of some games for as long as SoF lasted me.

RACISM!!!
If the ESRB gives this the green light, there has to be something fishy going on with Manhunt 2. Jack Thompson must be paying someone off.
also the AI is probably set to easy or something, probably godmode status as well just for the demo..

on topic: This game looks silly, and a little sickening. But obviously that's the point. Mission accomplished.
!
I expect more than flying limbs.

I never got into the single-player but me and my friends played the hell out of the multi-player

* Yes, I am serious.
** Totally awesome.
