Quantcast

There's not a lot else to say about this rather brilliant hoax. For the first time in public, the legendary Gordon Freeman has decided to speak out about his experiences in Black Mesa by calling Coast to Coast AM. As you can hear, host George Noory  takes the One Free Man's concerns very seriously. Very seriously indeed.

An awesome bit of parody this, so perfectly constructed and expertly pulled off. I applaud the efforts of this classic prankster.

I was expecting something a little more blatant like crowbar jokes, but this was well executed. Kudos to the prankster.

I love how the host completely ignores the "situation" at hand with the mention of portals.

"Yeah, yeah, creepy man stalking you, tell me more about your work..."

That's one of the downsides of running a radio program where the host doesn't actively challenge his guests on the kooky things they say. Noory should've known right away something was off even without any basic knowledge of Half-Life, but know, he kept trudging along like a good soldier, just like he did for countless other guests who made up grand stories of UFO's and government conspiracies.

Moral of the story is that skepticism can be a good thing.

Someone needs to do a follow up call claiming to be an aperture employee, and be extremely paranoid that the computer is out to kill them.

Oh and talk about cake

Well, according to the Wikipedia article on George Noory, he believes the human race was concieved by aliens. Granted, it could be vandalism but if conspiracy theory calls aren't uncommon on this show, I guess Gordon Freeman calling is just another day at work. =p

Good show, whoever made that call. I can actually recall certain parts in the game he was describing, though he of course made the situation seem a little bit more sane than it actually was in-game. =p

That's pretty funny. This should be a running gag, calling Coast to Coast and hoaxing them with game storylines. Silent Hill would be cool to try.

Funny but not exactly difficult or brilliant. Anyone who is a regular listener of this show knows that they will let virtually anyone on the show and it thrives on the lunatics. One time they had some dude call in and say he was flying over area 51 then preceded to be "shot down" over their airspace while on the air.

@Caffeine/Rocketr

methinks GLaDOS would be a fine call-in guest. I'm surprised no one has put together a podcast "interviewing" videogame characters who call in...could be interesting if done non-imbecilicly

You know, when I played Half-Life the first time, I seriously though *I* was the one going crazy...you know, there couldn't POSSIBLY be some guy in a suit up on that cat walk...

Kinda like the sequence in MGS2 when the colonel starts telling you it's time to turn off the game...
