Good Old Games goes public, DRM haters rejoice photo

Let's hear it for affordable, DRM-free games, folks!

For those of you unfamiliar with Good Old Games, it's the latest and possibly even greatest place to purchase older PC titles. A closed beta for the service has been going on for a while now, but it was just recently opened up to the general populace.

Whether you were never into PC gaming and need a good starting point or you're looking to relive your fondest memories of classic PC games, GoG is your best bet. Now go check it out so I can stop with the plugs already.

for those of you who haven't checked this site out yet, do so. I have been in the private beta and its great. I mean, you can't complain about $6 games that are awesome and have absolutely no DRM.

DRM-haters is an offensive word!!!

DRM is bad for us customers, please rephrase your headline in a more realistic style like "FINALLY STUPID MAFIA-INDUSTRY GETS THE MESSAGE: DRM IS A BAD THING".

thanks!

Grim, don't stop. They deserve all the plugs they can get. If those guys get good sales, we'll get a fairer copy protection system. Citizen Kabuto for 5.99? It's just too great to pass on.

Oh wow... I remember MDK came with my aunt's ancient computer to show off the Pentium MMX feature set...

Fear the 100 MHz Processor and all it's glory!! Also, 2 entire GB of hard drive space... That could never get filled up...

It also came with a copy of Sonic CD and a few other random games that were pretty good for the time...

OH!!!!

Spiderman Cartoon Maker... I spent hours with that...
Also Microsoft's 3d Movie maker...

/childhood memories...

I got Fallout and Freespace during the beta. Freespace has way more playtime, would be more but I'm getting a joystick before playing again.

But yeah, one of the best sites to hit the internet in ages.

1. GOG is awesome..

2. sadly i've already started hearing complaints about the few $10 titles being "too expensive". some people are never happy

3. noone ever mentions this so i want to make light of the fact that when you buy these games, you also get goodies like the game's soundtrack in MP3 format(i'm assuming that not EVERY game has this), hi-res wallpapers, etc.. The games are mod friendly and the staffers even link to recommended mods on the forums. on top of all that, your purchases are stored in your account and you can redownload as much as you want

It's a neat little site. With some more publishers, they could really be on to something.

Shogo! I couldn't for the life of me find a good version of that game. And now I don't have to! $6 only? Count me in. This could be pretty great for retro PC gaming if the library of games grows like it so could considering how many awesome old PC games there are.

I was in the beta and I must say please support this. I want them to get Syndicate but since EA owns it I am not so sure. Show them DRM Free makes money!

I have bought over 4 games and I don't even have the time to play them. I definitely will keep supporting them if they keep bringing the goods.
