Good Old Games giving out Tex Murphy 1+2 for free photo

Courtesy of WorldPlay and Good Old Games, you're getting Tex Murphy 1+2 -- that's Mean Streets and Martian Memorandum -- as a freebie for the holidays. You simply need to have a registered account to take this generous offer up, which ain't no thing.

This promotion lasts until December 24, in case you wondering. While you're stopping by GOG.com for the free adventure games, you might as well add Beneath a Steel Sky to your download queue as well -- it's still free!

Since I'm relatively (re: completely) unfamiliar with the Tex Murphy series, I wanted to mess around with these two titles before writing up this post. Mean Streets is a little too, uh, "aged" for my liking, but Martian Memorandum seemed perfectly playable in this day and age.

I need to keep playing so I can see what the deal is with that cyclops guy.

I loved the Tex Murphy games. I even owned the book adaptations of Under A Killing Moon and The Pandora Directive (which were the better games in series). Mean Streets later got remade into Overseer.

I know too much about mid-90's FMV games. Too damn much.

I love Gog.com. I seriously find myself buying old PC games in the hopes they continue and eventually finish every retro PC game I ever played growing up. Back in the day I had this idea of putting together an old PC with a Windows 3.1 system just so I could start collecting some of those old games. But with GoG, fuck it... I'll pay 5$ a game for them to do all the work for me!

Aww man, that was the game I got for free when Dtoid hid free gog game codes in old stories. I know I couldn't have known that 6 months ago but man I wish I'd gotten something different.

Man, the Tex Murphy games creeped me out about just as much as Darkseed 2 did back then. I was 11 or so. No one should have to go through this. :(

Under a Killing Moon and Pandora Directive are two of the best adventure games ever made and probably the best FMV games ever made outside CnC.

These games though, not so much. They were ok in their time but the first is way too old to play now for sure. Martian seems relatively ok, but still, there is better to be played that is much more advanced.

You should get Under a Killing Moon though... amazing game.

Lost of love for gog.com. I am still amazed at how good some of these old games are; I am furiously addicted to Might and Magic VI at this moment. Will have to check out the Tex Murphy series next, I guess.

GOG are the best company in on the whole internet selling thing, bar none.

If they would ever get the rights to Baldur's Gate/2, I would love them all the more. As it is, I usually make impulse buys from there instead of steam because...they're legitimately the good guys of the internet.

If you already bought this then there's a form you can fill to get another offer. No idea what it is though.
