SplatoonGood news, everyone: Splatoon will have local multiplayer photo

One of my favorite showings at E3 was Splatoon. It looks so wonderfully simple, yet had a layer of tactical depth that I could really get on board with. But my big concern was that it would have online-only play, and if it didn't catch on with the masses, it would be a ghost town in a matter of weeks.

Thankfully, that isn't going to be the case if you can muster up some friends, because Splatoon has local support for up to two players -- so that's something. Speaking to Game Rant, Nintendo stated that the game will have local multiplayer as well as a single player component.

The local mode is called "one-on-one," and will pit one player with the GamePad against another with a Pro Controller. It's described as more of a "stalking mode," which different from the core online four-on-four mode.

We still have a ways to go before this drops though, since it's scheduled for the first half of 2015.

Hands on with Splatoon, a very Nintendo competitive multiplayer shooter

Two days ago, if you had told me that Nintendo was working on a competitive multiplayer third-person shooter, I would have thought you were crazy. Imagining Nintendo venturing into the territory of blood-spattered 360 no-scop...more

Hollywood loves the E3 trailer for Metal Gear Solid V

It should go without saying that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain had a great showing at E3. Not only was the official trailer a stellar piece of work, and a big indication of how grim the game will be, but the 30-minute ...more

Photo realistic cat heads in Wii U's The Devil's Third

It's weird clicking a mature content warning on a video on Nintendo's YouTube with Mario staring innocently at me. But the collaboration between Itagaki and Nintendo for The Devil's Third, revived as a Wii U exclusive, is we...more
