Good news/Bad news: Tatsunoko Vs Capcom NYC event update

3:00 AM on 01.17.2010 // Jonathan Holmes

How about the bad news first? I was wrong and community member The Average Guy was right; Capcom and Nintendo wont be selling Tatsunoko Vs Capcom at the launch party on Jan 23rd at the Nintendo World Store in NYC. I guess that makes it more of a pre-launch party. How nervy.

The good news is, Capcom will be giving plenty of copies of the game away for free, so you can still try to get it early. The difference is, you'll need luck, not money, to make that happen. That's even better, right? You can try to get the game for free, but keep your pre-order in place just in case, and you've got nothing to lose. Personally, I'm just as excited for the event as ever. Then again, I'm hopefully going to have a review copy of the game in my hands before the 23rd anyway.

OK, enough passive aggressive smug-guy gaming journalist bragging, hit the jump for the latest press release for the event.

On Saturday, Jan. 23, the Big Apple will experience a big brawl, when the Tatsunoko VS. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars launch event takes over the Nintendo World store!

Tatsunoko VS. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars, winner of the prestigious Game Critics Award for “Best Fighting Game” at E3 2009, is one of the most hotly anticipated games of 2010, and launches on Tuesday, January 26. Hundreds of fighting game and Wii fans are expected to attend this event, where they’ll get hands-on with the game early and get to meet the legendary producer Ryota Niitsuma! They will also enjoy:

* A Tatsunoko VS. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars competitions, with exclusive prizes
* Tatsunoko VS. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars Game Demos
* An autograph signing with legendary Capcom game producer Ryota Niitsuma
* Exciting giveaways
* And lots more!

Why is it that Sundays always feel so lazy? I always tell myself I'm going to get things done and then...well....

So, I plan on using my GameStop Power-Up Rewards points (yes) to buy all the eventual P4DAN DLC. Even though the practices are very suspect. I am so not made of stone. Moreso blubber and Dr. Pepper.

Having a puppy and trying to play legend of grimrock 2 somewhere the puppy normally doesn't get to hang out is a futile effort.

Shafts of light emanated from Robo Panda Z's eyes, illuminating the intricately engraved obelisks looming impossibly above him. A whispered voice spoke from the obelisk. Do you pay too much for your Internet? Comcast. Like you have a choice.

I miss Kill la Kill - I think mostly because it was so damn entertaining to have a bunch of people drawling, "Nuuuuuuuuudiiiiiiiist Beeeeeeeeeeeaaaach" at each other.

I'm still trying to figure out how to do it, but for the most part I like what I've seen of the new blog editor. My first blog post using it should go up tomorrow.

What does one do when MGS V has lost its luster and Persona 4: DAN is growing stale? Listen to Queens of the Stone Age, of course. And wonder; is Steins;Gate worth the asking price? I want it, but not sure if I $30 - $40 want it...
