Godzilla: Unleashed now set to stomp PlayStation 2 this Fall photo

Tokyo is totally screwed now.

Godzilla: Unleashed, previously announced for the Nintendo DS and Wii, is now coming to the PlayStation 2 later this fall. While Wii owners get to waggle all over the place to make King Ghidorah spit electricity out of his nose, the PS2 version of the title will feature exclusive monsters.

Tiff had a chance to play the Wii version of Godzilla: Unleashed at E3 earlier this year, and she came away mildly entertained. I guess what version you choose to play will come down to what kind of cardiovascular shape you're in.

Godzilla is nothing without kick ass graphics. And I know, usally the graphics don't make the game, but that's all I can really think that would give this an edge.

People are still making PS2 games? I thought this was the Nextgen.

I say they just can it and make a game that will sell instead.

@ AgentMoo: Port from the Wii. Moving from this gen's cash cow to last gen's cash cow to squeeze those udders dry.

@Mxyzptlk: Wouldn't it be the other way around? Since the Wii is more powrful than the PS2 it'd probably be easier to port existing PS2 code to the Wii and add waggle.

Exactly. I understand Gamera isn't a Toho creature, but come on. Gamera is the friend of all children for goodness sakes!

I might check it out. Just playing as my sweet King Ghidorah perks my interest. Now if only they could get around to making a 360/PS3 Godzilla game with online. Then I could crush Tokyo while beating up someone FROM Tokyo at the same time.

@ lubczyk:

Yeah, but this title was pretty much developed for the Wii from the start, they're porting it to the PS2 because there's still a ton of people who haven't upgraded their GTA/Madden machines yet.

The only Godzilla movie I've seen is "Godzilla Mothra and King Ghidorah Giant Monsters All Out Attack." It was pretty good. 'cept that Godzilla owned Baragon and Mothra and Ghidorah, AND King Ghidorah, AND Superpowered King Ghidorah with the same cheapass laser mouth thing.
