Godzilla and friends ready to trash the Wii, PSP, and DS photo

Finally, smash things with your Wiimote that aren't your television screen or significant other!

IGN has revealed that Atari will be publishing Godzilla: Unleashed for the Sony PSP, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo Wii.

The Wii version of the game will be developed by Pipeworks Software and will continue on in the vein of the other games in the monster-melee series. According to Pipeworks, all of the "A-list" monsters will be playable, along with some surprises they weren't ready to reveal. The single-player game will feature a dynamic storyline that will change based on which of the four monster factions you choose to represent (Mothra, fly or die - what what?).

Better make sure you have the new, thicker remote straps; Godzilla: Unleashed will fully utilize both the nunchuck and the Wii remote.

"The remote handles attacks, and the nunchuk handles movement, jumping, and so forth. Because of the new controller, monsters can now execute any or all of their primary actions independently - which means that you can charge while jumping in the air - fire your weapon during attacks, and move freely at all times. This totally turns the "canned" animation system of past fighting games on its head. Godzilla can be walking in one direction, attacking with his claws in another, firing his weapon in a third direction, and swinging his tail at a rear target all at the same time. We're just focused on putting the maximum amount of control into the player's hands at all times."

Other juicy tidbits include crazy destructible environments, 480p/16:9 screen support, and cryptic plans for Wii Connect24 support.

And you thought SSX was tricky to control Nick? Holy FUCK!

As for the Wii Connect24, I'm thinking that it'll be patch support for this turd. Thats right, I call TURD. When this TURD escapes, and everyone is disgusted, I will cite this comment that I called it on announcement day.*

*I do reserve the right to recant and purchase the title should it include online play or there are no other games coming out that month. Yeah thats how I roll....sup?

Hey maybe this one will be fun.. unlike the ones on the Xbox... I wanted to smash the remote against the floor after play Destroy all Monsters.

Great idea, just horrible HORRIBLE gameplay and control scheme...

Though the Wiimote might change all that.

I just realized something, if thats how games are going to be done... PS2, PSP, DS, and Wii.

The Wii should theoretically always have the best looking graphics of all the ports....SCORE! I can smell the marketing machine already.....churning out some SHiiiiOTTTTT....

Wii verson sounds like it's going to be crap unless they really can cram all of what they said...I wonder how it will be for the handhelds...

Rampage wasn't so bad and for $30 I enjoyed it.

I'm a big fan of Gozilla and really hope this doesn't let us down and hope by the end of the year they have some online titles so I can kick ass all alone in my room.

Yeah, the Melee games were actually pretty good -- don't be so hard on this game. Yet.

I just watched a Godzilla movie the other night, and it made me really want to play Destroy All Monsters Melee again. I guess instead I can just wait for this.

"...firing his weapon in a third direction..."

If Godzilla ends up with a gun or rocket launcher, I'm going to immediately start trying to end civilization.

@MechaMonkey

I already tried to end civilization back in the 90's.

Anyone remember this?

Yeah... instead of porting down from the 360 or PS3 we get what? Ports from the PSP?

Seriously how long do developers think they can dump on Wii owners. The PS2 isn't getting a port, and that's the winnner of the last gen.

All I hear is that you can destroy large cities.. as a monster from one of the best (debatable/cheesy) monster movies ever made.

MechaMonkey...

Do you know nothing of Godzilla? His weapon? He breathes fricking "fire"! That is his weapon. All the monsters have weapons...MechaGodzilla has missles and Lazers, Mothra has it's beams, most monsters have beams of sorts.

My predictions:

1. This game will be fun

2. This game will get a mediocre rating

3. I will drink alcohol. Lots of alcohol.

I'm actually really looking forward to this one. I hope it lives up to the hype, because it looks to better several of my issues with the last two Godzilla games. We need our kaiju fix!

The last two Godzilla beat'em ups were fun with friends and booze. Also, the screenshots look better than most 3rd party stuff I've seen for the Wii.

I still say the best huge-monsters-fighting game was War of the Monsters for the PS2.

What i'd like to see: single player involves Godzilla embarking on a soul searching mission to overcome the misunderstanding and bigotry handed to him by humanity a quest for love, peace and fries. would you like depth with that?.......ummmm juicy says yes!

War of the Monsters didn't have "huge" monsters. Just moderately medium sized ones. It was fun and all, but the environments felt too open and I didnt like climbing things as much as I liked stomping on them on Godzilla Melee.
