God of War III demo won't be the same as seen at E3 photo

If you’re a PlayStation 3 owner, you’re no doubt dying to get your hands on God of War III as soon as possible. According to the game’s producer Stig Asmussen, there are already plans in the works for a demo of the game… it just won’t be what we saw at E3.

The information comes from Asmussen after I mentioned to him that the announced March 2010 release date for God of War III almost seemed too obvious to anyone familiar with the series’ history. All three previous titles in the series shipped in March, making the “Holiday 2009” release date some people had been hoping for unlikely.

As for demos of the game, each had previously been made available to the public a few months prior to its release – the PlayStation 2 demos shipped late in the year prior to its release, with Chains of Olympus for the PSP getting a demo as early as September before release. In the past, these playable sections of the demos had been nearly identical to that which had been shown to media at press events.

He wouldn’t give specifics on method of delivery (i.e. pre-order disc first, followed by a digital download, for instance), but would say that it will be different than what was playable at E3. Whatever the case, “do want”? Certainly, thank you very much.

God of War, one of my favorite series of all time. When I saw the Spike awards trailer, I was so disappointed; E3 has reinvigorated my interest in this unbelievable looking game.

Anybody else finds that getting demos for preordering is retarded? A demo usually helps you decide if you want to get a game or not. At least that's how it was in the good ol' days.

Demo sounds good, but something tells me we won't see one until February.

Unless they drastically alter the game from what I played at E3: yea, it will be the same game. Not that I won't be picking this up day one...

Very much looking forward to this, but probably still far off, maybe an early December release for the demo, would be the perfect Christmas gift and be in line with their earlier demo-releases. Hell they could even pull of a Zone of The Enders and package a democode with a high calibre fall title such as Uncharted 2 or Ratchet & Clank to boost sales. Although on second thought, with all the account sharing nowadays that wouldn't be much of a stimulus I think (maybe lock the demo or something). Anyway make that demo polished and I'll gobble it up no matter what!

On a side note: what's with the whining about the violence in GOWIII, as if we haven't seen any realistic decapitations or what not in videogames yet? Just watch the new Wolverine game's intro cinematic, or Prototype's intro, and remember the RE4 decapitation? All I read in those topics is OMG ITS SO COOL !!11! and with GOW III a lot of people are saying O MY TOO MUCH or I LIKE VIOLENCE BUT NOT THIS.

For someone who has studied Greek and Latin at school and read a lot of books/journals from that era, I can confirm that violence played a big part in society those days and was not being downplayed, sometimes even glorified. Go read some Greek/Roman stories /mythology and enjoy the slaying :-P

PS Sorry for the rant but I just had to
