God of War II director Cory Barlog leaves Sony, teams up with George Miller photo

Woah. Deja vu, man. I could've sworn that we already told you about a God of War director leaving Sony to do his own thing. Wait, we did! That was David Jaffe. Now, God of War II director Cory Barlog follows and leaves Sony Computer Entertainment for something bigger and better. But what, exactly?

I wish I could tell you. Level Up's N'Gai Croal has been chatting up Barlog in a multi-part interview, but it looks like we're one installment away from the big reveal. We do know that Barlog has been working with Australian film writer and director George Miller, who you might know from Babe, The Witches of Eastwick, or Happy Feet. Oh, and Mad Max. They're working on something videogame related, but it's anyone's guess to what they've been doing this whole time.

The interviews, while a great read, don't drop any hints. They do give background on why Barlog decided to leave Sony, and they cover how his relationship with Miller came to be. What they don't do is spill the beans. For that, you'll have to hit up Level Up tomorrow.

What do you think Barlog and Miller are working on?

George Miller is making a new Justice League Movie 100:1 odds that's what it is...

What I mean to say is, Barlog is probably doing the game adaptation of the film. So far the cast for the movie is pretty weak, so we'll see if making a game out of it is even worth it.

Barlog is making a movie based on Balrog?

It may be a Mad Max sequel if anything.
@FatBologna, the Justice League movie is shaping up to be shit. Look at recent casting reports of JLA Batman to see why.

I'm just wondering how long it'll take for the typos to get fixed.

I have noticed something: Dale, as well as most gamers out there, seems to inadvertently spell BALROG instead of Barlog, the correct spelling of the last name. Ah, seems we still play Street Fighter II in our heads...

None of the God of War games have been made by the same team, and they are all phenomenal. I have no problem with this news. Hopefully God of War keeps that up.

Really? I had thought he had announced this last summer or something. For some reason I remember Cory Barlog leaving Sony.

@BluFire

Me too. Maybe it was that he was leaving the GoW team?

It's definitely Barlog. Balrog is the Street Fighter.

A Mad Max game done by Barlog could definitely be AMAZING!!! However, a game based on the The Witches of Eastwick could bring all new meaning to horror--digitized Cher!

Obviously he's moving to Capcom to reprise his role as a boxer. It's pretty likely that Miller will be the final boss in SFIV.

Well looks like God of War 3 is going to suck. Not saying the other guys from the team aren't talented but if you've seen any making of videos you know how set they were on quality.
