I wonder if they were getting complaints? I understand the issue but I think people who don't play games think people who do like to replicate what they see in games and are easily swayed. It doesn't bother me either way, but it would be nice to see people take fiction for fiction sometimes.

I don't get this article. Do they mean female creatures? Or just regular human women? Because I don't remember him killing many of those (besides his wife and child). If it is a female mystical creature I don't understand what the problem is.

Can we pull back the violence in general? I mean this in 2 different ways. First, the 5 minute long quick time events that consist of nothing but stabbing and punching and blood saturating the screen, and second, I actually liked in the trailer when Kratos saved that innocent bystander's life. More of that kind of stuff please?

Many of us been fighting long and hard for the inclusion of female avatars in online multiplayer shooter games and one of the arguments against having female avatars is that men don't want to shoot women because the "violence against women" thing. It's all fantasy... and women certainly have no issue at all shooting men in a video game. This type of thinking doesn't do gaming any good at all.

It does seem a little strange that they'd make a decision like this now, unless of course it just "fits" with the new game. Maybe at this point in time Kratos isn't quite as angry as he is in GOW3 (I mean look how he saved that one guy in the E3 demo)? While he still has a job to do maybe there are a few lines he won't cross to get the job done? Unlike GOW3 (I love that game!) where it was GOD KILLIN time, and no man, or woman was going to get in his way.

Well if anyone was wondering why some people are weary of the recent "anti-sexism" bandwagon. This is why. Because more than trying to create good female characters companies will be watering their ideas down in fear of any potential backlash.

I don't know. If this is really a prequel in a true regard, maybe Kratos has some humanity left in this game.
Regarding the Poseidon part in GOWIII: That made sense to me. Yes it was horrific and bad but Kratos is a horrific and terrible god/person. Kratos is not a role model nor is he someone that should be admired as a "hero." This is the reason why I was disappointed that they are making another GOW with Kratos as a title character. He's a horrible being and his character has been pretty much fully explored. If they show him in a more human light, thats fine i guess.
Personally, I was hoping that a new GOW would star someone else as a title character and their goal was to kill Kratos for some wrong that had been committed to them by proxy by Kratos. The Theme of GOW has always been Revenge and the loss of humanity that comes with being consumed by it. It would be interesting to see a character who actually starts out as being virtuous (unlike Kratos) and watch them follow in Kratos' footsteps. Ah well, that won't happen.

I'm still confused as to why Kratos is the protagonist instead of the bad guy. He's a sick, evil fuck from what I've seen. When he isn't acting like a whiny emo kid, anyway.
I'm actually really happy about this. Not necessarily with how Sony is going about it, but I'm really quite happy that the triple A industry is beginning to think about it's portrayal of woman, and how they are treated in their games, instead of just ignoring the issue.
