Also God of War 2 was the best in my opinion, probably because of the location and diversity offered, but also because of that literal cliffhanger ending (done right) and the satisfaction of bringing down "fate" itself...much more gratifying than killing a god of olympus imo
Unless they really change up the gameplay, count me out. GoW as a new IP was intriguing, GoW2 peaked and then GoW3 provided more of the same and was... enjoyable. At this point, I need a change. The gameplay's far too mindless for me not to want change eventually.
Same goes for Uncharted. Uncharted 1 intrigued me, Uncharted 2 peaked and Uncharted 3 was just more of the same but still great. The next core UC title NEEDS to change.
Somehow, I just don't care if either Halo, Gears (aka MS's franchises) don't change that much because the core gameplay is so polished and so addictive.
It's about time too.
.... Are you a fucking idiot? So you're saying that God of War and Uncharted don't have polished and addicting gameplay? Get the fuck out of here, you stupid fanboy. Yes, i'm calling you a fanboy because there was really no need to bring up Halo and Gears, you fucktwat.
@Jonathan Holmes
What was wrong with God of War 3? More hate? Do you want more hate?
Don't mention Too Human.
Also: when games cost tens of millions of dollars to create, I can't blame publishers for having a PR strategy. Don't understand why you have to demonize Sony for wanting to get the most pre-release hype for their games in the hopes that they'll sell better. Isn't that what every publisher of art media does? Video games didn't invent the NDA or the PR team.
And I never imagined that the GOW games would take a page from the Zelda rule book and make a prequel to a prequel.
This game probably won't be bad, but it probably won't scrath the same itch the first 2 games did. At this point I think they should just leave GoW alone while it still has it's integrity, I'm sure they could create a new IP that would be successful.
What I really want is Bayonetta 2, I'm burned out on GoW.
I was alright with Uncharted 3, it's just I've had my full, and even if I get a vita, chances are I won't play golden abyss.

And I'm not demonizing Sony. I'm just not a big fan of how controlling PR firms can be, Sony or otherwise.
There no more room to shove in shit in the story. Is the game after this gonna be Kratos as a child?
Me too!!!
Be sick if they did what happened w/ Assassins Creed II and the psp title they launched at the same time (BloodLines) where unlocking things in one game would transfer (transFARing, anyone?) into the other...
was really hype about vita b/c I thought stuff like that would be more common...
was a great idea.
Yes. That's exactly what I'm saying. God of War was polished, but I didn't find it addicting. Uncharted 1's shooting mechanics were awful, 2's were amazing, but 3 brought it down a little. This is just how I feel. Deal.
Different strokes for different folks. So calm the fuck down, al'ight? You're acting far more like a "fanboy" than I am by slapping insults on me for essentially not agreeing with your opinion.
We did get prequels already, the PSP games were cool and all, but the stories weren't so interesting. I always wanted a game that chronicled Kratos's backstory from GoW I and all we really got were side stories that had no relevance to the overall plot.
If we get that, and they find ways to keep the gameplay interesting, this could be a winner.
Honestly though, I probably won't get this till it hits the bargain bin. I'm sick and tired of Kratos, and when they try to make him relatable it just falls apart. He's an angry asshole, and always has been. Whenever they talk about him before everything that happened in the games they show that he was an angry asshole then too. Basically I agree with everything in that article Holmes posted^
The gameplay is stellar, though.
Prequels are for loser consoles. PSP and Vitas.
I feel a bit like they treat him like Big Boss. But Big Boss had actual change in the years between Snake Eater and Outer Heaven.
Anything happening to Kratos in the prequels will not upset the status quo. He's already pissed, what more can you do?
