Reinvention in that i would like to see what an underpowered Kratos feels like. Ok not underpowered just not superhuman. It would be interesting to see the many moves and their origin. Maybe he could get "better" throughout the story and then we'd start seeing familiar moves take shape in the gameplay. Part of his ascension/descent into ghostofsparta territory.
Also God of War 2 was the best in my opinion, probably because of the location and diversity offered, but also because of that literal cliffhanger ending (done right) and the satisfaction of bringing down "fate" itself...much more gratifying than killing a god of olympus imo

Big "eh". Even the trailer itself is "eh". Haven't we already been through with prequels with at least one of the PSP titles (haven't played them so feel free to correct me)?
Unless they really change up the gameplay, count me out. GoW as a new IP was intriguing, GoW2 peaked and then GoW3 provided more of the same and was... enjoyable. At this point, I need a change. The gameplay's far too mindless for me not to want change eventually.

Will more than likely be a great action game, hard to go off a trailer I suppose. Excited for E3 for the gameplay and how they expect to make Kratos before powers interesting. And God of War 3 felt like the PS2 games to me, had less Crate puzzles I suppose.

I still thinking about adding GOW3 to the collection...rented it, beat it, was unimpressed by it. Loved the first GOW and I also enjoyed GOW2 but GOW3 felt like the same gameplay but just focused on adding more blood and gore then anything else. I just hate seeing an incomplete trilogy on the shelf. Hope its different but not getting my hopes up till I see some gameplay.

The people who think Kratos is a completely one dimensional character are the same people who can't remember what happened in any of the Modern Warfare games. You people never cared about it to begin with. You bought the game to cut dudes to pieces/shoot dudes in the face. Both games have competent campaigns with simple but interesting characters, but that's not why *you* bought them.
Also: when games cost tens of millions of dollars to create, I can't blame publishers for having a PR strategy. Don't understand why you have to demonize Sony for wanting to get the most pre-release hype for their games in the hopes that they'll sell better. Isn't that what every publisher of art media does? Video games didn't invent the NDA or the PR team.

@ Wrath and Pride were you kind of burnt out by uncharted 3? Did you feel like it was inferior to uncharted 2? If yes...you are not alone.
I loved GoW I & II, consider them to be some of my favorite games on PS2. GoW III wasn't bad, just lacked that pow factor the first two games have. GoW without the direction of Jaffe or Barlog, just seems off, there's this atmopshere & passion that's missing.
This game probably won't be bad, but it probably won't scrath the same itch the first 2 games did. At this point I think they should just leave GoW alone while it still has it's integrity, I'm sure they could create a new IP that would be successful.

@ ctg867- Kratos went through some character semi-interesting character development in GoW 1 and 2. Didn't see too much of that in 3. The character development there was pretty forced and artificial. Anthony Burch said it better than I did.

I'm not that interested in God of War anymore. They've done all they can do storywise including 2 prequels. Kratos is angry and kills stuff. He's a sociopath but loves his family, I guess. He was sort of a sympathetic anti-hero in the first game, became the villain in the second and received some half-assed redemption in the 3rd. I love the big moments, the controls and the combat, but I just don't care what happens to Kratos anymore.
Even as a big fan of the series i have a hard time giving a shit about this. We already had two prequels. We already had one prequel that was set "before the main games". I dont want another one thats just "before before". Just continue the fucking story or give us a new character.

Be sick if they did what happened w/ Assassins Creed II and the psp title they launched at the same time (BloodLines) where unlocking things in one game would transfer (transFARing, anyone?) into the other...

It sure is lucky for Sony that there are an infinite number of things that happened to Kratos in the past that we never knew about. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to keep making GOW games.

Another God of War prequel, huh? Well fuck. Kratos is cool and all, but I think I've learned enough about his past. They made it out like he was still alive at the end of 3, and I'd much rather see where that goes, if anything. Even better, I'd like to see Sony Santa Monica focusing their amazing talents on something else entirely. Kratos is a badass with a troubled history that kills things well. I get it. Tell me about some other badass, please.

We did get prequels already, the PSP games were cool and all, but the stories weren't so interesting. I always wanted a game that chronicled Kratos's backstory from GoW I and all we really got were side stories that had no relevance to the overall plot.
If we get that, and they find ways to keep the gameplay interesting, this could be a winner.

The story progression from 1-3 was neat, but it gets muddled when you include the PSP prequels. I really don't where they could take the story with a new entry.
I was hoping this was going to be a Vita title, since I just got one and imo the PSP GoW games were the best in the series.

They should just sequelize the game in modern times. We've outgrown Christianity and all worship talking cats. Kratos could spend the game killing lolcats, camwhores, and Anonymous. At the end, he kills Julian Assange and claims his mantle, and uses wikileaks to destroy civilization.
