We guessed correctly last week when we said that the God Eater game coming from D3 Publisher would actually be the upcoming God Eater Burst. This PSP title was just recently revealed in Japan, so it's nice to see that we're also getting this enhanced version, and not just the original Japanese release from last year.
When that original was released, it sold over half a million copies in under three weeks. That was more than enough to send team Project G.E. back to work to create this enhanced version. There are twice the number of missions in this updated action RPG. There are also new modes, customization and more, but we won't see the difference as first-time players to the franchise. Just know that we're getting the best and newest version.
As far as release dates go, all we know for now is that God Eater Burst is coming to the PSP in 2011.
God Eater Burst re-imagines the post-apocalyptic world with an original and dramatic story of human survival against overwhelming odds. The earth has been plagued by terrifying mutant beasts known as the Aragami and man’s only hope against them is the God Arc weapons and the God Eaters who wield them. Players will create their own hero and battle against many different types of these enemies, picking up items along the way to customize their weapons, guns, bullets and shields, boosting their strength and stamina in the massive scale fights.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
If that's confirmed, with some pretty awesome looking niche games on the horizon, it might be time to re-invest in a PSP.
I mean, look at that sword thing. What exactly is that supposed to be?
All I want from D3 Publisher N.A. is "Host Club" and the Simple Series games. The U.S. branch usually just publishes Ben 10 games...
The game is fucking AMAZING fun. I'm a huge fan of Monster Hunter, and this is like MH but at 10 times the speed. It's designed almost the exact same way. I got through about 20 missions before I decided to wait for the English version.
Extremely fun and addicting game. If you liked the concept of Monster Hunter but thought it was too slow and grindy, then this is a game for you.
Be warned, though: the amount of terrible, soulless J-Pop/Rock is off the charts.
Unless the skull pens up to bite after stabbing. Otherwise, what's the point of the skull when it so inhibits the blade?
Anyhow, sounds interesting. I'll give it a shot once it drops.
Also @Hasney, it's not possible, the D-pad is used for item management and crouching/laying down. But you should get it, it's a very fun game that is absolutely perfect for portable gaming.
Thanks man. Dunno, I really want new MGS in my life, but I really hated using that damn nub.
I'll Czech out a 2000 or 3000 and see if that feels better.
"NAMCO BANDAI Games Europe Announce Enhanced Version of Acclaimed Survival Action Hit for 2011 European Launch(...)
The title will debut on PSPTM (PlayStation®Portable) in Europe as an enhanced edition of the game, entitled God Eater Burst, loaded with modifications, gameplay improvements and additional features."
from NAMCO BANDAI Games Europe God Eater Burst press release.
@Caspulex
Well, one of the sword forms, the one you see above (it has 3, if I'm not mistaken), is used to bite your enemies. Hence the name of the game, I guess.

You can see it in action for a brief moment on this video.
Peace Walker is the next Metal Gear. It's nothing like PO or Acid, even though those were great fun; PW is a narrative, and its MGS through and through. Very highly recommended, especially with friends!
I do want this, though.
:Obligatory upcoming software list - incoming:
...
Valkyria Chron. 2
The 3rd Birthday
MGS: Peacewalker
Persona 3 Portable
God Eater
God Of War: Ghost of Sparta
FFXIII: Agito
...and there's more that I'm forgetting. It's about f**king time.
