i'm just wanna say, i loved the camera, it was awesome, especially when you look at the year it came out. Photoshop back then didn't even have the layers tool, let alone it was about 1 year into photoshop actually being able to use color. Sure today it's crap, but i used it for a solid year and a half. And yes, the printer sucked BALLS!
The Game Boy Camera was an ace peripheral...my friends and I spent endless hours making short stop-motion videos and recording them on VHS tapes.

For the time it came it, it was pretty incredible. Obviously when compared to todays standards, its pretty weak, but there were plenty of people who had a lot of fun times with this puppy.

There was nothing god awful about the GBCamera. It's a toy, and as such it does the job brilliantly (and with a lot of imagination). I had nothing but fun with this back in my student days, and when eventually it got stolen (with the bag it was in) I was a very sad lad indeed.

I enjoyed it. It was a fun little diversion. A little bit of history, where I lived, we had no high school. It was an island in the middle of a lake, and during the winter months we'd be taking a plane over and staying the week at a boarding place. Me and the other kids (usually about 12) from that island would be stuck at a crappy airport with no money for at least an hour each week. The only diversions we had were my Gameboy Camera (I remember my cousin taking pictures of some of the uglier girls and writing '2 cent whore' on them. Fun times...), and making prank calls to the children help line. The second one was cut short when they caught onto us, so....

Someone should make a PS/2(or USB)-to-SNES mouse interface, just for pointlessness (strange, last word Firefox didn't go all bad-spelling on me). Also, GB Camera was pretty awesome, I never owned one, but I have fond memories of playing with my friends' one, and it was a very fun toy at the time. Nintendo should make something far more advanced for the DS, like the DS Camera, I've heard they did good things with Mario No Photopie (strange Mario Paint-esque game for 64DD), so they are very capable of creating creativity software.
It's too bad the thing didn't get used the way it should have been. One of the reasons why I ended up getting a Game Boy Color was because Perfect Dark was going to have a feature that allowed you to put your face onto a character in-game using the Gameboy Camera. That feature later got scrapped and I wasted 100 bucks on that Gameboy Color. That would have rocked. 10 years later it finally happens with Rainbow Six Vegas. See? It was ahead of it's time. It was high tech the same way the "Iomega Zip drive" was high tech at the time. Totally useless now of course.

it truly was cutting edge at the time, and being able to use it to print stickers? completely awesome.
it also had what was likely the last great player's guide. for the uninitiated, it let you know all of the secrets of the camera, as one would expect, but it also had a rather thorough bout of suggestions for tasks you could use your camera with. fun stuff. it's always nice when a player's guide actually EXTENDS your experience rather than shorten it,
plus, i used it for at least three school projects, using my Super Game Boy to transfer things to VHS tape. they were all excellent.
in short, while the camera itself may seem weak, it's the motion in the ocean that counts. you of all people, Savant, should know that.

Loved it. Cherished it. Remember the "game" you could make by adding invisible buttons to the photo, that when clicked come up with another picture? Pointless, but awesome.

I loved my GB Camera/Printer back in the day, for the pure stupidity of it. It's still packed away somewhere. I recall they were even going to offer a face-mapping feature that let you put your mug onto characters in Perfect Dark's deathmatch via the GB Camera & N64 Transfer Pak. Then Columbine came around, and Rare scrapped the idea.
Folks are taking this way too seriously. I guess I didn't write this enough tongue-in-cheek.
At the time, yeah, that thing was a marvel and I really did enjoy messing with it (as stated in my last paragraph.) But the sad thing is that there are still people out there using the camera... for functional use.

i don't care what anyone says; game boy camera ruled. i mean, space fever 2? the dj minigame? awesome shit.
I loved that thing. I still have one less than 3 feet away from me as I type this, even though I can't use it anymore (traded GBA for DS). Sure, the picture quality wasn't the greatest, but it shouldn't be judged as a camera. It should be judged as a game. It had unlockables, minigames, and a lot of other fun stuff that made it very worth the $40 it cost.

In response to c--b about deleting all photos. If you haven't found out already, you have to hit select at the main screen, go to edit on the bottom, then album. Once there, hold select and start and press up. Then hit A to confirm. Hope that helps!
Mike Savant Ferry, I am sorry to tell you this, but the sad truth is that you're an idiot. For it's time, this cam was great. Sure... I can say that the world's first computer is crap? I mean cmon... It's WAY to large for it's abilities... Right? No?

OF course, with time, greater stuff were made, and I now have a GBA cam, it's not as fun though, cos it lacks games and stuff. But this little GBC cam was a fun accessory to have fun with alone, or with friends. I still play with it from time to time. Now I suggest you actually open your closed mind, and start focusing on shit that actually matters. Jerk...

It was a really fun gadget, and dont judge me because its my username! i had no ideas, and it was really hard to make a cool one, cuz this forum is pretty established as far as forum history goes. I talk too much. I got the gameboy camera for free a few years ago (in Ninth grade), and i bought the printer on ebay for $4.OO. it was probably the most fun i ever had with any type of camera. what other camera allows you to put your friggin mug on a juggling-guy. space fever2 was overlooked in this discussion, though. That game made the gameboy camera GODDAMN AMAZING!!!!!!!! (((:
