Go see Deus Ex 3 and Thief 4 at Eidos Montreal photo

Eidos Montreal is inviting the public to come visit their studios and check out Deus Ex 3 and Thief 4 this Sunday. The studio (now owned by Square-Enix) is currently working on the two titles and what better way to get feedback on development then by getting it straight from the fans.

Anyone that attends will get a behind-the-scenes look at the two games, enter contests and ask the team questions about the games. Bonus: Eidos-Montreal won't mind if you bring a CV with you if you're looking for a new job.

Check out the Facebook event page for details on the event and to get on the RSVP list.

Might want to fix the title typo. ;)

What better way?

Let Warren Spector have an advisory role in the titles, at least. He's got other things he's doing now, but these are Ion Storm's games and I'd prefer to see them done justice rather than Crystal Dynamics do whatever the feel like with them.

Its good to see the two franchises getting some attention again, but I'm just not confident in CD to do the job right, they can barely get Tomb Raider right half the time and destroyed Legacy of Kain.I'm hoping being under the ownership of SE, they'll take a bit more time refining these.

Does this mean we'll finally get some information on DX3? I'm pumped!

Holy crap. I would fly over there if i could. Really nervous about Thief though. It's pretty much my favorite series of all time, and if they go the Splinter Cell Conviction route and try to make it more action-oriented, I may just have to kill someone...

Seriously, Thief is all about "in and out without ever being seen". Garrett is not an assassin. They better not try to make him into one.

Yeah I agree with you whole heartedly. Also while Thief is a 'durable' enough series to be futzed with*, Deus Ex on the other hand is just I think a bit too delicate to be put in just anyone's hands. Also while we're on the subject of excavating Looking Glass and Ion Storm IPs can someone like force Tom Hall to make Anachronox 2?

*To an extent of course as even with Ion Storm's pedigree they just could not equal the glory Looking Glass made that was Thief 2.

I'm from Montreal and I'd normally go see this... but I'm on duty. fml. Deus Ex was one of the best games out there and Invisible War was also great (even amid stupid complains, it's still better in terms of options and possibilities then most current gen games).

Wow, I'd forgotten about both of these games. Good to see that they exist.

Sweet. I've been itching to hear about Deus Ex 3 recently. Thief 4 is just a bonus at this point.

Deus Ex is my favorite shooter ever. Even more so than Half-Life and that is really saying something. If they screw up Deus Ex 3 I will never play a shooter again.

I never finished the original Deus Ex or its sequel, but still I'd be interested in Deus Ex 3.

I'm still trying to remember which one was Deus Ex 2. All I remember playing is the first one and Invisible War. Regardless, Deus Ex is one of the best semi-RPS games ever. I'll be picking up DX3 day one for sure. As long as it's on 360, that is. I don't have a capable PC setup.

Oh, Thief is always good too.

System Shock was sucessfully translated into Bioshock with reasonable amount of idiotization. They've butchered Invisible War overdoing the same process. Streching roboust classic with many options and possibilities so even idiots can play it. Maybe now they will do it like the 2K, use good design to limit the cuts to minimum.

Game costs small fortune with modern day graphics, so you have to market all AAA games to almost everybody. Big enough chunk of everybody cannot be bothered with too much complications. They want a soap opera to be turned on and off whenever a few minutes of spare time are to be filled, not an ambitious movie that demands attention.

IMO One would have to forsake graphics to get really great and well designed game on a budget. But right now dated visuals are killing games from first glance. Lame screenshots -> move on. But I think this is temporary. There is a market for uncut games (I know I'd buy uniditoized games even if graphics were 5 or even more years dated), so eventually there will be a way to do this.

heres hoping theres crate-pushing involved.

I love Eidos. No matter what goofy fantasy universe the games take place in, the games have a lot of mechanical similarities. Vampire? Adventurer-archaeologist?, Time-traveller? whatever, all you fuckers push crates. (it's how we here at Eidos like to slow the player down and squeeze more game time out of a map, cuz this is a business)

They better not screw up my two favorite games of all time. If Thief 4 was action oriented, what would be the point of playing it? DX3, I hope they make it more like the first one than the second. The second was a bit too dumbed down.

Deus is quite possibly my favorite game ever. And the Thief games are amazing. Thief 3 didn't seem to make much of an impact on the community, but its better than any game I've played since.

So, cautious optimism.
