Go Play City Sports announced, no longer a reason to leave home photo

Because the Wii screams “f--k going outside, kids” Majesco decided to take the next step by announcing Go Play City Sports. Yes -- it’s a game that simulates all the lackadaisical games that urban kids play outside. Games like stickball, kickball, handball, jump rope, and even the peculiar rooftop hockey.

Let me just get the content out of the way: It’s a mini-game waggle title, based in an environment where, wait for it, players must dodge manhole covers, fire hydrants and parked cars. Balance board support is confirmed and multiplayer modes are go.

I’m glad Go Play City Sports is coming. This provides a unique opportunity for the Indiana farmer’s child, constricted to b-ball with a goal forged by his papa’s pa shortly before ownership was transferred. Finally, that Indiana boy will experience the wonders of urban sprawl and the games that his country kin can’t enjoy -- games that don’t involve counting weeds or fussing with corn.

Thanks, Majesco. (Press release after the break.)

MAJESCO ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES 'GO PLAY CITY SPORTS' FOR Wii

Family Friendly Title Transforms City Streets into Competitive Urban Playgrounds This Fall

EDISON, N.J., March 9, 2009 – Lace up your sneakers and get ready to hit the pavement as Majesco Entertainment Company (NASDAQ: COOL), an innovative provider of video games for the mass market, announces Go Play City Sports for Wii™. The latest title in Majesco’s recently announced Go Play line of motion-based video games for the whole family, Go Play City Sports recreates the experience of playing sports in a vast urban playground where manhole covers double as home plate. The all-new sports compilation allows players to compete against the best neighborhood athletes in six classic games, including stickball, kickball, handball, rooftop hockey, shootout soccer and jump rope.

Go Play City Sports takes full advantage of the Wii’s capabilities in order to bring these timeless games from the streets to the living room. Players use the intuitive movements of the Wii Remote™ to rule the courts and stake their claim as king of the block. However, just like on the real street, they must dodge obstacles like manhole covers, fire hydrants and parked cars as they try to earn trophies and unlock items such as new courts and equipment. The game supports up to four players in both head-to-head or team-based games, while single player mode allows gamers to fully explore the expansive urban environment. With fully customizable characters and Wii Balance Board™ support, Go Play City Sports is a fun, competitive game for players both young and old!

Developed by Digital Embryo, Go Play City Sports for Wii is expected to release this fall. For additional information about Majesco’s exciting line of products, please visit www.majescoentertainment.com.

Rooftop Hockey!? That sounds like the awesome mini-game from NHL Hitz where you try and take out the most windows from the building across the street!! Sadly, I know this game is not even comparable to what Hitz offered...

Man, it's about time for some party games on the Wii. I'm sick of all the hardcore shit they've been peddling along like we care.

*sigh* More mini-game waggle-ware.

I'm so glad that MadWorld comes out tomorrow.
