Go Go Go: Amazon has your Street Fighter IV Fightsticks photo

This is more of a public service announcement than anything else.

That Mad Catz Street Fighter IV Tournament Fightstick you've been wanting since February is now available at Amazon.com. Today there's a stock of PS3 ones awaiting your order, priced at $149.99. The stock of Xbox 360 Fightsticks should be good to go next week, on July 7th.

As you know, any stock is limited, but these Tournament sticks are very limited in quantity. Don't wait. Of course, there's no guarantee that these will be in stock by the time you read this.

After you get it, someone go and beat Jonathan Ross in Street Fighter IV.

Can somebody tell me why these are so great. I haven't played an arcade game in about 10 years, the joystick seems like it would be hindering.

How would an arcade stick be hindering in Street Fighter? Did you ever play any arcade fighter?

I'm no SFIV fan or a fan of arcade joysticks.

Then again I'm no SFIV expert and I'm pretty sure Jonathan Ross' dog could beat me at the game.

Still, it seems the Fightsticks are praised by those who take the game seriously.

Although I get a little jealous of the TE pics I see in the custom stick threads at shoryuken, I'm happy with my SE now that it's modded. However if you're really searching for a joystick and/or have the money for the TE you should look around the Shoryuken.com forums and build one yourself or find a custom stick maker.

@Ganjookie

It's been forever since I played an arcade fighter, I'm used to a controller.

I'm actually far worse with my TE than I am with a pad. But it's soo much more fun. Relearning.

Even 1942:JS is more fun with a joystick.

Got mine in yesterday from a private seller on Amazon. These things are pretty neat, but they're awefully expensive. If you're the kind of person who would pay 150 for a stick, you're probably someone whos serious enough to build your own.

Yea, it's pretty fun trying Megaman 9 and Gunstar Heroes with a stick! If I were a bit more competent in my soldering I would try putting the pcb from my playstation controller in so I could use it on Guilty Gear Accent Core.

Whoa, this is the first time I've heard people talk about having fun with the joystick. It's usually talk about "kickin' ass more better," now I want one.

It would take me way too long to unlearn my habits with a controller, since I grew up playing the SNES version of Street Fighter. That, and I'd rather get 3 new games for the price of this stick.

Just remember it's all about preference. Some people can go on and on about how much more responsive a stick is compared to a pad, but if you can combo with a pad like a madman, stay with the pad.

I misread that as 'Fishsticks'. Clearly, I have a set goal in my life.

I got one a while ago and have mainly been using it with SoulCalibur IV, but they are utterly fantastic. Growing up on controllers, it was difficult to make the switch, but combining button presses and having little "clicks" to differentiate the 8 directions digitally makes a big difference in how you play. I'm still not awesome, but I feel more in control and rely less on button shortcuts, like a trigger for grab or soul charge (which are multiple button presses normally).

Anyway, I noticed that both Capcom's store and Mad Catz had gotten in stock last week (non-bundles for Mad Catz), so I ordered a second one up from Capcom, but because I also ordered a Resident Evil Shot Blaster for Wii, which they said was available, they put my order on "backordered" status until they had more stock. :(

I beat Jonathan Ross once. I mean I won one round, not the match... and I was using Sagat...

...he might have been trying to make me feel better.

PS3 Fightsticks are not %100 compatible with PC. I emailed Mad Catz if they are going to release a patch for SFIV PC but they haven't replied yet. According to a guy from shoryuken forums, he got an email saying the xbox 360 sticks are compatible with all PC's because of certain drivers of software which Microsoft has no plans of making available!!

It took me a few moments to figure out that there's a Destructoid editor named Jonathan Ross, and that the guy on the BBC has no interest in playing Street Fighter.

(Charlie Brooker might.)
