Go download the Fallout 3 HD texture pack for great justice photo

After the royal treatment the modding community gave Bethesda's last game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, it only made sense we would see similar support for Fallout 3.

Enter the fan-made HD texture pack, a mod that adds more rocks and cracks into the mix in an effort to make the Capital Wasteland that much more ... beautiful? Or should I say destroyed?

PCGH has got the installation instructions, download links, and texture comparison shots you desire, so head on over there if you think your PC is up to the task of running Fallout 3 with the new content.

Reportedly, you'll need a computer that can run the game on ultra-high to be able to use these high-res textures without experiencing stuttering. Consider yourself warned!

It isn't ground breaking (pun intended, just look at the comparison pics) it just changes it a little.

It doesn't add much, but it adds enough to make it worth it. The last comparison shot is exactly the same except the gun is 1mm to the left.

So I guess it's true more rocks means more HD.

So if there is a movie with the Rock in it where he is fighting in a rock quarry be prepared to be HD eye fucked!!!

Aren't pc versions always HD ever since the 90's ended?

Technically yes, but this is even HIGHER def.

Honestly, though I probably would not have noticed. I'll back up my texture directory in case applying the pack tanks my framerate.

This actually looks pretty ugly. It just seems to make things look...grimier.

Did you expect a post-apocalyptic world to be clean and Utopian?

The pc at high detail was already HD compared to the blury low res textures the crappy console versions got.

What the hell is this going to do? What ever Ill try it I got 2gb texture memory.... this is new to me.

this is the last game that needed a texture redo.

Wow, some higher res floor textures. More cracks and stones than ever before... Ummm, awesome, I guess.

Thats terrible, most of those make the game look worse, and the last comparison doesn't change anything.

Alas, the last comparison changes so much! Just look at the newspapers on the floor, omg I can almost read the headlines SO MUCH HD!!!

@John B
I don't want or expect it to look clean or anything, I just think it's an ugly and unnecessary texture pack. "Grimy" was probably the wrong word.
